Extractions: Abstract: Melorheostosis is an uncommon disorder characterized by soft tissue contractures and sclerosis of bone. The sclerosis appears to flow along the long axis of the bone, akin to candle wax dripping down one side of a candle. Numerous reports of lower extremity involvement exist, but there are few detailed reports of melorheotosis involving the hand. This condition is benign but slowly progressive and can usually be managed conservatively. Loss of function of the hand from swelling, pain, or stiffness, however, may necessitate operative intervention. Two recent cases prompted a review of the literature relating to melorheostosis and the hand.

AskDocTrish.com -- Bone Disorders marrow. melorheostosis is a rare condition of the bones where the cortex gets very thick and grows into the marrow part of the bone. http://www.askdoctrish.com/bone.html
Extractions: I read an interesting abstract from a paper published in 1997 in Argentina, about two women who had good results with using calcium supplements and pamidronate. They both had what is called high bone turnover with their illness, so I don't know whether this paper would even apply to your particular case. You might want to print this out and talk with your doctor about it.
