Extractions: To the Editors: Prenatal diagnosis of lethal congential malformations in Sri Lanka De Silva and others (1) in their article titled "M6ckel Gruber syndromes single gene defect causing recurrent neural tube defects" in a previous issue of the Journal highlight a problem often faced by Sri Lankan obstetricians. With obstetric ultrasound becoming freely available in this country, lethal malformations are being diagnosed with increasing frequency. Although the parents may prefer termination of pregnancy, the present abortion law in Sri Lanka compels its continuation, unless there is a threat to the mother's life. Meckel Gruber syndrome is a good example of the value of prenatal screening in highrisk cases. Sepulveda et al. detected the anomaly in 4 out of 9 pregnancies with a past history of this syndrome (2). Further, they made the diagnosis in early pregnancy between I I and 14 weeks. Indeed, early screening is recommended in Meckel Gruber syndrome, since development of anhydramnios in the second trimester makes it difficult to see the abnormal features (3).

It's a great introduction to opera for ppl who don't listen to it very often. It has all the great hits with all the great singers, who can make shivers go down your spine. My friends who don't know opera as much as I do love it too. Music: Best of the Millennium: Top 40 Classical Hits - How do you do music education if you aren't musically trained? I have friends who home school, but they don't have the musical training I got as a kid. A good starter is this CD. It really is "the best of the best" and a wide sampling of everything from Baroque to Opera to classical with Jazz inspiration (Gershwin.) If you aren't a classical music buff and want to introduce yourself or your kids to the great music of the centuries, this is a very good starting point. The pieces are arranged alphabetically, which I find strange (I would have preferred chronologically) but for searching and replaying composers, this is a good thing. That's why I think this makes a good resource for home schoolers or for parents introducing their kids to music, especially if the music program at their school has been eliminated to save costs.
