The uvea provides most of the blood supply to the retina. Causes of uveitis can include autoimmune disorders, infection, or exposure to toxins. However in many cases, the cause remains unknown. The most common form of uveitis is anterior uveitis, which involves inflammation in the front part of the eye, which is usually isolated to the iris. This condition is often called iritis. The inflammation may be associated with autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis or ankylosing spondylitis , but most cases occur in healthy people and do not indicate an underlying disease. The disorder may affect only one eye and is most common in young and middle-aged people. A history of an autoimmune disease is a risk factor.

Blutuntersuchungen ergaben keinerlei Befund, beim HNO-Arzt wurde allerdings festgestellt, daß meine linken Nebenhöhlen zugeschwollen sind (allerdings ohne Beschwerden!); siehe auch meinen Beitrag unter "Kopfbeschwerden etc". Dies ist womöglich die Ursache der Iritis. Nun meine Frage: da ich die Sinusitis mit homöophatischen Mitteln behandeln lasse, dauert die Heilung wohl noch einige Zeit. Meine Iritis flackert aber hartnäckig alle paar TAge auf und ich kann ja nicht ständig diese Kortison-Tropfen einträufeln. Gibt es irgendwelche alternativen Mittelchen zur Behandlung meines Auges? Bzw. um die Beschwerden (starkes Druckgefühl im Auge, manchmal Brennen und Tränen, rot) wenigstens etwas zu lindern bis die vermutliche Grundkrankheit ausgeheilt ist? Bin für jeden Tipp und Erfahrungsaustausch dankbar ! Kerstin S. Re: Iritis (woher) Hallo Kerstin! Am 24. April 2001 wurde bei mir das erste Mal eine Iritis festgestellt. Ich bin bei allen Ärzten gewesen, um die Ursache zu finden. Ergebnis-nichts. Allerdings konnte aufgrund meiner Schwangerschaft nicht geröntgt werden. Das wurde in diesem Jahr nachgeholt. Ergebnis-nichts! Im letzten Jahr hatte ich die Erkrankung dreimal und in diesem viermal. Ich war auch schon in einer Augenklinik, doch dort konnte man mir lediglich die Hoffnung geben, dass es oft mit dem Alter weniger wird und nicht wiederkommt. Man darf gespannt sein. Die Kortisontrpfen werden bei mir nur langsam abgesetzt, damit mein Immunsystem sich dran gewöhnt alleine zu arbeiten. Ob das was bringt kann ich erst nächstes Jahr sagen. Aber vielleicht kann mir ja auch jemand was dazu sagen.
