Extractions: There is finally an effective surgical breakthrough for the treatment of excessive sweating! Excessive sweating of the hands, feet, and face, excessive facial blushing, or any combination of these conditions is known as hyperhidrosis . The cure is available and in practice at The Center for Hyperhidrosis in Los Angeles, California. Here, leading expert Dr. Rafael Reisfield can often times eliminate the discomfort and embarrassment of excessive sweating once and for all with a simple surgical procedure. The cure for hyperhidrosis, known as Endoscopic Thoracic Sympathectomy (ETS), is a finely-tuned and proven surgical cure that takes advantage of the latest endoscopic techniques. Dr. Reisfeld performs the ETS procedure regularly, virtually on a daily basis, and is considered a leading authority in this field. Dr. Reisfeld has performed the ETS procedure more than any other U.S. doctor! During the procedure, Dr. Reisfeld places titanium clips within the chest cavity. These clips divide the sympathetic nerve chain and effectively eliminate the problem of excessive sweating and/or blushing. Most of Dr. Reisfeld's patients are able to walk out of the medical center within 2 hours after surgery. Regular physical activity, that includes returing to work, results within 2 or 3 days of surgery, on average. To learn more of the Surgery Details click here
Extractions: Side Effects There are several side effects. Compensatory sweating (CS) is the most bothersome. Compensatory sweating is experienced as excessive sweating on the back, abdomen, thighs, and/or lower legs. This should be expected to a certain degree in all patients, and it ranges from mild to severe. Some patients will experience more severe compensatory sweating, up to 5%. However, most patients say that they are not troubled by this extra perspiration and it is preferable to sweaty palms. A short time after the operation, 3-1/2 to 4 days, some patients will have a temporary recurrence of sweating on their palms. This is a short-lived phenomenon that might last for half a day. Since compensatory sweating is the most common side effect more should be known about it and what is being done to improve upon it. Over the last three years, the clamping method procedure has created an improvement with regard to the reversal possibility. Recently, over the last 2 years, lowering the level of the clamps to the third and fourth ganglia has had some positive effects with lowering the amount of compensatory sweating. This portion of the site will be updated as more is known. Dr.Reisfeld is very involved in making sure these types of issues are relayed to the public in order to benefit everyone. Over the last several years more ETS procedures have been done and obviously since the number of cases has gone up tremendously also the number of cited side effects are on the rise. Side effects, such as fatigue, hair loss, loss of concentration, scalp itchiness, weight gain, shortness of breath, reduction of exercise ability, were all mentioned in an

Why does spicy food make you sweat? 04-Oct-2002 Dear Cecil: A good friend of mine, a Chinese born in Nanking, China, told me that many Chinese (including himself) do not need to use deodorant. "We don't have sweat glands under our arms," he said, "We don't need to use deodorant." I'd always thought that all humans were endowed with similar glands and organs. We all have lungs, livers, hearts, lymph glands, etc. Is Mr. Fu wrong? He's rarely wrong about anything, honest. Marshall Why does spicy food make you sweat? Mike Bethany, Denver Cecil replies: Mr. Fu exaggerates, but he's not completely wrong. It's not that Asians don't have sweat glands under their arms; the difference is that they have markedly fewer apocrine glands than black or white people. That doesn't mean they sweat less eccrine glands, the other main type of sweat gland, are a thousand times more numerous on most bodies, and Asians have plenty of them. But apocrine glands are the kind that make you stink. Those lucky Asians, you may saybut every silver lining has its cloud. For Asians it's
