Acne Rosacea
Acne is common among teenagers, but when you get it in your thirties, if might be Acne Rosacea instead.
What is Acne Rosacea
Acne Rosacea is the chronic inflammation and congestion of your oil glands and of the skin between these oil glands. Your cheeks and nose appear red and flushed. Acne Rosacea looks like bad acne. That is why it is called Acne Rosacea. In Acne Rosacea, skin looks flushed. Cheeks looks flushed. In severe cases, nose looks red. Acne Rosacea tends to be more common among fair skin people who blush or flush easily.
What causes acne rosacea
Acne Rosacea appears to get worse when you drink too much alcohol or take food that is too spicy. It also may be aggravated by exposure to extreme temperatures, too much sun or stress. A type of mite called demodex may be the cause of Acne Rosacea.
What to do
As in normal acne, do not pick or squeeze the pimples. You'll only make things worse. Untreated Acne Rosacea can lead to chronic inflammation and enlargement of the oil glands.

  • What Is It? Symptoms Diagnosis Expected Duration ... Additional Info
  • What Is It? Rosacea (rose- ay -shah) is a common, long-lasting skin condition that causes inflammation and redness of the face. It usually starts with redness on the cheeks and nose, and also can affect the forehead and chin. The late comedian W.C. Fields, who was known for his wicked wit and red, bulbous nose, had an advanced case of rosacea.

    Ocular Rosacea
Overview Ocular rosacea is associated with a chronic skin condition known as acne rosacea. The problem usually affects those with light skin, and is characterized by redness and bumps concentrated on the forehead, nose and cheeks. One of the earliest symptoms of rosacea (often experienced during puberty) is facial flushing brought on by changes in body temperature, emotion, or hot drinks. Eventually, the skin may become chronically red, irritated and inflamed. Approximately 60% of patients with rosacea develop related problems affecting the eye (ocular rosacea). Patients with ocular rosacea most commonly experience irritation of the lids and eye, occurring when the oil-producing glands of the lids become obstructed. Styes, blepharitis, episcleritis, and chronically red eyes are also typical conditions. Ocular rosacea may also affect the cornea, causing neovascularization (abnormal blood vessel growth), infections, and occasionally ulcers.

Rosacea Several skin promoting nutrients may be beneficial in managing rosacea. A diet rich in B vitamins (B-complex) is important to consume because a deficiency in B vitamins is sometimes observed in people with rosacea. According to some studies, vitamin B12 and riboflavin (B2) may be especially useful in managing rosacea. The other B vitamins are thiamin, niacin, pantothenic acid, biotin, B6, and folate. Dietary sources rich in several B vitamins include fortified cereals, brewer's yeast, and fortified instant breakfast mixes. A diet rich in beta-carotene, vitamin C, zinc , and omega-3 fatty acids , such as in flaxseed oil , is also essential in rosacea management. Consuming foods low in saturated fat and avoiding trigger foods may lessen rosacea symptoms. Mega-Recipes
We believe that it's possible to manage and/or improve certain conditions through what you eat. What is rosacea?
Rosacea (say "rose-ay-shah") is a disease that affects the skin on the face. It often begins as redness that looks like a blush across the nose, cheeks, chin or forehead. As time goes on, red pimples and pus-filled bumps may appear. Some people also notice small blood vessels across their nose and cheeks. In some people, the skin of the nose may become red and thick. This is called rhinophyma (say "rye-no-fie-muh"). Rosacea can also affect the eyes. It may irritate and inflame the eyelids and the white part of the eye. This is called conjunctivitis. Return to top
What causes rosacea and who gets it?
No one knows the cause of rosacea. There may not be just one cause. Rosacea tends to run in fair-skinned families and tends to occur in people who blush easily. Symptoms usually begin in adults between the ages of 30 and 60. Women are more likely to get rosacea on the cheeks and chin, but men are more likely to get rhinophyma. Rosacea tends to be more severe in men. Return to top

Order Skin Rescue Starter Pack Rosacea, the Red Face In Canada, it is estimated that 2 million people (about 7% of the population) have the red face of Rosacea. The highest incidence is in white women between the ages of 30 to 50 years. The red flushing of topical rosacea is confined to the cheeks, nose and central forehead. The skin becomes dry and flaky skin and reacts to most medicines, lotions and cream. Red pimple-like bumps often develop in the affected skin. While Rosacea is common and most sufferers consult their MDs for treatment, there has been little progress in understanding or managing this disorder. The diagnosis includes a range of inflammatory events in facial skin. The range is so broad that it is reasonable to ask if Rosacea is too fuzzy a term that can apply to diverse immune-mediated events in the skin with different causes. The reader can recall our understanding of the skin as a meeting place for many characters in an ecological drama that unfolds every day. There is some evidence that the little animals who live on the skin participate in the Rosacea drama. It is also reasonable to suggest that sun exposure to the face damages the skin sufficiently that inflammatory events are more frequent and prolonged. Facial flushing is a normal response to heat, embarrassment and to some food and drinks such as coffee, tea, alcohol and hot spices. The sebaceous glands in the affected skin are often involved and may enlarge. Exposure to sun and all forms of heat causes exacerbations.
