84. Henry Potter
While earlier flutes showed pronounced flat foot syndrome, the Henry Potter sfoot is marginally sharp at 440, sharp at 452 and best around 442Hz.
http://www.mcgee-flutes.com/henry_potter.htm
Henry Potter
Henry Potter was born in 1810 (the same year as John Clinton) into a family with a solid musical background. Henry’s father Samuel Potter (1772 - 1838) had enlisted in the Coldstream Guards at the age of 14 in 1786, and eventually by 1815 had risen to the rank of Regimental Drum Major. Samuel completed 30 years service with the Guards and resigned from the army in 1817 to set up a workshop located in King Street, Westminster for the purpose of making drums and wind instruments. Samuel seems to have concentrated on instruments with a military band connotation, such as drums, bugles, fifes, horns and trumpets. He actually wrote several published treatises, one being a method for playing the fife (1815) and the other being a manual for drums, fifes and bugles (1817). Samuel’s son Henry (1810 – 1876) presumably learned about instrument making from his father, and continued the business after his father’s death in 1838. By 1841 he was well established as his father’s successor, with premises at 2 Bridge Street, Westminster.

Hot Harry Potters Don't Make JK Happy; Neither Does Killing a Main Character
As Gothamist suspected, Scholastic is suing The Daily News for printing two pages of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix from a copy that was "accidentally" sold early. The best part is that Scholastic is suing for $100 million dollars . (Gothamist is saying " ONE hun-dred million dollars " like Dr. Evil and giggling.) "Jeopardizing" their marketing campaign. Heh. The movie studios wish they could sue for bad pre-release buzz of movies, but they can't. Gothamist salutes Scholastic for continuing the litigous tradition of our country. As J.K. Rowling told the BBC earlier , she was upset having killed off one of the main characters, but, she added, if "you are writing children's books, you need to be a ruthless killer." Um, okay. Anyway, Gothamist has been wondering who is killed off. Jake is worried it's Hermione. Jen suggested it could be a main but-not-Harry-Hermione-Ron-type main character: perhaps Hagrid, Dumbledore, a Weasley. MSNBC gives some odds about who might die. Katie Couric has the only U.S. interview with J.K. Rowling on the

Date: Thu, 21 Jan 1999 Me and my husband were married on July 25th 1997. Both of us wanted a child more than anything, or so I thought. In Oct. of that year I found out I was pregnant. My due date was June 29th 1998. In the beginning of the pregnancy everything was going so good. At about 16 weeks my doctor did a MFSP test. It came back that the baby had Downs Syndrome. We were told that we should consider an abortion. I could not and would not do that. We went to see a maternal fetal specialist. They did an Ultrasound and we then told our baby had potters syndrome. Her kidneys didn't develop, neither did her lungs. We were then told we should go a head and have the abortion. I still couldn't. My husband wanted me to. He was only concerned about when I could conceive again. I chose to continue my pregnancy. I needed to hold and see my baby. When I was 28 weeks pregnant, on April 11 1998, I went into labor. I was at home. I was in labor the whole night, but didn't think it was labor because I still had 12 weeks to go. Well to make a long story short I did get to hold her and see her, although she was stillborn. She was a beautiful little red haired girl. She was 14 in. and weighed 1lb 10oz.

90. 'Our Story' Of Jack...
We found out as much as we could about Polycystic Kidney Disease, Potterssyndrome and all the related syndromes that go together down the line
http://fp.angeljack.plus.com/page35.htm
Song playing is:~ The Prayer OUR STORY OF JACK Here is 'Our Story' of Our Most Precious Little Angel 'Jack'! I t was Friday 7th July 2000 and we were waiting in the hospital for our 20 week scan... Both our other two children were with us, Sophie 9 and Ben just 2 yrs. When they called us in, Sophie sat watching the screen and taking in everything the Sonographer was saying... She showed us our little baby's hand that seemed to be waving, and we saw all the limbs, legs, arms etc... It was wonderful - until... the Sonographer said she would just like to get a 'second opinion' from another doctor... Alarm bells started to ring, we had never experienced this before with our other 2 children, what on earth did she want a second opinion on? When she came back in the room, she explained that the Kidneys were showing to be very bright, although she couldn't tell us what this meant... An appointment was made for the following Wednesday to see the Specialist, to see what he thought. We left to go home ~ distraught, wondering what on earth the problem was with our little baby... Sophie asked if everything was ok?, what could we say, we just didn't know...

The Science of Harry Potter: How Magic Really Works > Customer Review #1: A good book to think on

This book is for people who enjoy reading about what people have tried/done in the past and what people will be trying and doing in the future This book is not really directed towards children more to someone who enjoys reading about science. From start to finish a lot of names, ideas, experiments, and questions are given. A great read for anyone who likes to wonder. This book provokes hundreds of what if questions and the reader is left to just wonder how the world would be with these things. The thoughts and ideas in this book are LOOSELY based on the magic in Harry Potter. The ideas in the Harry Potter books are expanded and talked about at great length with not only what if questions but how scientists in the past and present are (without first seeing it in Harry Potter) trying to achieve real life magic

In a previous post I considered my own geekiness This morning I found a way to test that: The Geek Test My score indicates that I am a "Total Geek." That's with a score of only 26.23274%, though. Third category out of nine. Not so much, though just taking the test shows "Geekish Tendencies." 10:16 AM in Miscellany Permalink Comments (2) TrackBack

Last night at Target (which, of course you know, is pronounced with a faux French accent: tar-jhay), standing in front of a rack of shirts in the men's department: me: How about this one? KR: You'd look like a geek. me: (proudly) I'm a geek. KR: You're not a geek. (She walks away.) me: I could be a geek.
