Our Lord Jesus
How glad I am for that! Did you know that multiple personality disorder is truly a blessing from God? He gave us the gift of survival by blessing us with intelligence and creativity allowing us to dissociate in times of pain and suffering. Thanks be to God! He allowed us to be spared so much! Do you remember the poem "Footprints"? God carried us during those times. Think back to your own life. Have you ever gone through something that you didn't think you could ever survive and have maybe even contemplated taking your life? Think back. It was awful but you SURVIVED it. Did you do it on your own? Maybe you think you did but I can tell you that you were not alone! (Surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. Matthew:28:20b) You never have to feel alone again. What comfort that is to a lonely heart. You are loved! Loved so much that Jesus died for YOU! No matter what you have done in the past or even what you are doing right now in your life HE LOVES YOU! For a person who was abused that can be difficult to believe. It may take you some to accept but when you finally reach the point of 100% surrender to the Lord you will have a peace that has been unknown to you until now. To accept Jesus as your Saviour right now click here to help you surrender yourself over to the Lord.

THE ART GALLERY Most of the art in The Art Gallery had its beginnings in The Multiple Journals. I began writing these journals in 1994 when I was flooded by memories of childhood abuse. After a lifetime of mental hospitals, suicide attempts, despair and confusion, I was diagnosed with MPD/DID (multiple personality disorder/dissociative identity disorder). I have come to recognize the 44 separate personalities residing within my one very tired, and crowded body. This is my art and my life on these pages. I am Survivor... and Artist. I know who I am all of us. I know the truth. My ability to dissociate from the abuse as a child is the only reason I am alive. I consider MPD to be a blessing, and a miracle. (Can you understand this?) In the Multiple Journals the personalities were encouraged to write and draw. I looked inside for answers. I asked quesitons. I became the expert on me. It was there that we found healing. Some of the drawings in my Multiple Journals was later translated into the art you see here, (see more drawings and journal writings in my book, Looking Inside: Life Lessons from a Multiple Personaltiy Some of my earlier art is included so that you can see what was there all along, what was overlooked and dismissed. August Piper Jr. Since 1980, some psychotherapists have claimed that thousands of Americans are afflicted with multiple personality disorder. Believing such claims requires ignoring their many serious deficiencies. Any people, given over to the power of contagious passion, may be swept by desolation, and plunged into ruin.

"About Multiple Personality Disorder and Dissociation"
"The great French psychiatrist Pierre Janet coined the word dissaggregation about one hundred years ago to identify changes in consciousness which disturbed the normal, well-integrated functions of identity, memory and thought in several of his patients. This term was later translated from the French as dissociation Most clinicians believe that dissociative processes exist on a continuum. At one end are mild dissociative experiences common to most people (such as daydreaming or highway hypnosis). At the other extreme is severe, chronic dissociation which may result in serious impairment or inability to function. There is a wide range of experiences in between. Some people with MPD can hold highly responsible jobs, contributing to society in a variety of professions, the arts, and public service. To co-workers, neighbors, and others with whom they interact daily, they apparently function normally. The dissociative process may result in a series of discrete states which eventually may take on identities of their own. Often referred to as alternate personalities, these are the internal members of the MPD (DID) system. Changes between these personalities, or states of consciousness, are described as switching. Dissociation and switching may become automatic responses to anxiety and anticipated anxiety, even in non-abusive situations. Even after the traumatic circumstance is long past, the vestigial pattern of defensive dissociation remains. Chronic defensive dissociation may lead to serious dysfunction in work, social and daily activities.

Multiple personality disorder
Definition
Multiple personality disorder, or MPD, is a mental disturbance classified as one of the dissociative disorders in the fourth edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders DSM-IV ). It has been renamed dissociative identity disorder (DID). MPD or DID is defined as a condition in which "two or more distinct identities or personality states" alternate in controlling the patient's consciousness and behavior. Note: "Split personality" is not an accurate term for DID and should not be used as a synonym for schizophrenia
Description
The precise nature of DID (MPD) as well as its relationship to other mental disorders is still a subject of debate. Some researchers think that DID may be a relatively recent development in western society. It may be a culture-specific syndrome found in western society, caused primarily by both childhood abuse and unspecified long-term societal changes. Unlike depression or anxiety disorders , which have been recognized, in some form, for centuries, the earliest cases of persons reporting DID symptoms were not recorded until the 1790s. Most were considered medical oddities or curiosities until the late 1970s, when increasing numbers of cases were reported in the United States. Psychiatrists are still debating whether DID was previously misdiagnosed and underreported, or whether it is currently over-diagnosed. Because childhood trauma is a factor in the development of DID, some doctors think it may be a variation of

The CPA's Multiple Personality Disorder
Conflicting accounts about the authority's status are helping it shirk accountability rules.
By Eric Umansky
Updated Tuesday, May 4, 2004, at 10:10 AM PT
While everybody is wondering who will take the reins—at least symbolically—in Baghdad come June 30, there's another, more timely mystery in play: Exactly what kind of entity is running Iraq now? The Coalition Provisional Authority, Proconsul Paul Bremer's outfit, is in charge, of course. But what, bureaucratically speaking, is the CPA? A new report by the nonpartisan Congressional Research Service, posted online by the good-government folks at the Federation of American Scientists says, "It is unclear whether CPA is a federal agency." Noting that its "organizational status is uncertain," the report speculates that the CPA may be a part of the Pentagon (the Army cuts Bremer's checks), it may be a stand-alone executive agency, or it may be an international institution, like NATO. The confusion—which, the report notes, raises questions about "whether, and to what extent, CPA might be held accountable for its programs, activities, decisions, and expenditures"—stems from the White House, which hasn't released information delineating the CPA's authority, structure, or place in government. (It also didn't return calls seeking clarification.) The best information congressional researchers could find on the CPA's structure was "an undated organization chart" that "provides some insight into the structure of the authority, although it does not include some key offices and positions."

Exploring Multiple Personality Disorder
Feyza Sancar
In popular culture, Dissociation, and Dissociative Identity Disorder (previously known as Multiple Personality DisorderMPD) is considered a very exotic, rare and enigmatic psychological phenomenon . It seems that, especially in the media and entertainment, multiple personality disorder is stigmatized by a number of quite florid and nearly hysterical symptoms. Clinically, however, Multiple Personality Disorder has been recognized for centuries and is currently estimated to exist in 1% of the general population , and as much as 7% of the population may have suffered from a dissociative disorder at some point in timem . Currently, DID (MPD) is most generally defined as a disturbance in the normally integrative functions of memory, identity, and consciousness . Most simply stated, MPD/DID is manifest as an inconsistent sense of self or "I" . Interestingly, it has been established that MPD/DID is actually one of many dissociative disorders and falls on a continuous spectrum of dissociation which ranges from normal/common dissociative episodes to "poly-fragmented" DID Researchers and clinicians believe that dissociation is a very common and naturally occurring defense mechanism, which results from early childhood trauma. Full blown DID or poly- fragmented DID (more than 100 personalities) is characteristically a result of severe, and prolonged occurrences of physical, sexual, or emotional abuse occurring before the age of 12 (and often before the age of 5)

When you were growing up, did you have an imaginary friend? Did Mom and Dad have to set a place for Timmy at the table and serve him invisible food, or did all your aunts and uncles have to pet your imaginary puppy when the came over to the house? That's just pretend, though, kids having fun. So is a child pretending that they are someone else, forcing their parents to call them Spike, convinced they have a Harley even though they're only five. But what if this were an adult, someone who should "know better" convinced that they are someone else. If this were to happen, society would label them as crazy or delusional. Or, maybe, this adult suffers from a Multiple Personality Disorder. Multiple Personality Disorder (or MPD) is a psychological disorder where a person possesses more than one developed personality. These personalities have their own way of thinking, feeling, and acting that may be completely different from what another personality is like
