Why Special Forces Weren't Used Prior to 9/11
This rather disturbing report from The Weekly Standard points out that despite Presidential "findings" (orders for covert action), the military's elite counterterrorism SpecOps groups such as Delta Force and Seal Team Six were never used against suspected terrorists prior to 9/11. SINCE 9/11, Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld has repeatedly declared that the United States is in a new kind of war, one requiring new military forces to hunt down and capture or kill terrorists. In fact, for some years, the Department of Defense has gone to the trouble of selecting and training an array of Special Operations Forces, whose forte is precisely this. One president after another has invested resources to hone lethal "special mission units" for offensivethat is, preemptivecounterterrorism strikes, with the result that these units are the best of their kind in the world. While their activities are highly classified, two of themthe Army's Delta Force and the Navy's SEAL Team 6have become the stuff of novels and movies. Prior to 9/11, these units were never used even once to hunt down terrorists who had taken American lives. Putting the units to their intended use proved impossibleeven after al Qaeda bombed the World Trade Center in 1993, bombed two American embassies in East Africa in 1998, and nearly sank the USS Cole in Yemen in 2000. As a result of these and other attacks, operations were planned to capture or kill the ultimate perpetrators, Osama bin Laden and his top lieutenants, but each time the missions were blocked. A plethora of self-imposed constraintsI call them showstopperskept the counterterrorism units on the shelf.

Indigestion
Indigestion is a common condition that is associated with eating or drinking. Symptoms - Symptoms include either pain, nausea, Heartburn , burping, a bloated feeling, or possibly vomiting. Symptoms may appear soon after eating or drinking. If the symptoms persist for weeks or months it may indicate an underlying disorder of the digestive system. Cause - The cause of indigestion is not well understood but can be associated with any of the following; eating while emotionally upset, overeating, eating foods with a high fat content, eating spicy foods or foods that produce gas (i.e. beans, cucumbers, cabbage, etc.), food allergies, consuming excessive amounts of alcohol, caffeine or carbonated drinks or smoking. Diagnosis - The diagnosis is based on observation of the aforementioned symptoms. If symptoms become severe or persist, an evaluation by a physician should be sought in order to rule out an underlying conditions. Examination could include an endoscopy, x-rays, or other specialized tests. Because indigestion can cause pain in the upper abdomen or chest, the possibility that the person is suffering a heart attack must be ruled out. Contact medical assistance immediately if the discomfort is accompanied by chest, arm or jaw pain, sweating or anxiety.

'GUT list' ranks cities with stomach woes
By Troy Goodman CNN Health and Food Writer (CNN) Mary Poppins said that a spoonful of sugar makes the medicine go down. What about a spoonful of stomach-friendly bacteria? At least one consumer product company is hoping that a daily supplement of "probiotic bacteria" commonly found in such foods as yogurt and certain kinds of milk can help lower the risk of an upset stomach.

Empower Your Health. Empower Your Life. Indigestion, or dyspepsia, is a frequent complaint among people of all ages. However, indigestion should not be tolerated simply because it is common. On the contrary, digestive distress is a sign that the intestines are not functioning properly. And, people with dyspepsia are at an increased risk of gastric cancer (Scand J Gastroenterol 1997;32(8):751-4). What can you do to combat dyspepsia? Make an appointment for a chiropractic checkup. Doctors of chiropractic, like Dr. DeMaria, are up-to-date on cutting-edge, effective and all-natural solutions to dyspepsia.
The Indigestion/Chiropractic Connection
Many people with indigestion report that chiropractic care alleviates their stomach problems. Scientific evidence also supports these reports. For example, one Australian study found an association between indigestion and mid-back pain. Investigators examined data on 1,494 chiropractic patients. A whopping 46% experienced both indigestion and mid-back pain. And, 36% noted that both symptoms tended to occur simultaneously. What’s more, 22% of subjects with indigestion said that chiropractic adjustments provided relief. (J Manipulative Physiol Ther 1996 June; 19(5):317-23). How do chiropractic adjustments lessen stomach complaints? And what’s the connection between back pain and indigestion? Although more research is needed to establish a clear link, chiropractors uphold that the body works as a whole, rather than as isolated parts. Consequently, conditions like spinal subluxations (areas in the spine where movement is restricted or bones are out of alignment) may upset the balance of the body, boost stress levels and lead to other health concerns, including indigestion. Chiropractors use gentle, effective and safe maneuvers called chiropractic adjustments to remove spinal subluxations, allowing your body to function at optimal capacity.

What is Indigestion? heartburn. Pain in the upper abdomen may come and go. For some people it can be relieved by food, especially if it feels like a hunger pain, although for others it can occur after eating. It can occur by day or at night, when it may be relieved by a snack or a drink of milk. Alternatively, it can occur without any relation to food at all.
Symptoms of indigestion include discomfort or pain in the upper abdomen or chest. Possible causes Most indigestion symptoms are harmless but annoying. Very often tests are not needed. When tests are performed and no cause is found, the term may be used, meaning that no ulcer has been found to account for the symptoms. An ulcer is a break in the lining of the stomach of duodenum (the first part of the small intestine), resembling ulcers which some people get from time to time in the mouth. Regurgitation or reflux is painful although rarely dangerous. Stomach acid escapes into the gullet, causing chest pain. It can be mistaken for a heart attack. Severe reflux can occur with a hiatus hernia (see Hiatus hernia Symptoms A vague pain below the ribcage, extending into the throat. An acid taste in the mouth. Too much wind. Causes Eating a heavy meal or drinking alcohol. 'Rich' food, that often contains a lot of fat. Smoking too much. A leaking valve at the neck of the stomach (hiatus hernia). Prevention Avoid food which you know can bring on an attack. Sleep with your upper body propped up with pillows. Avoid eating just before bedtime. Eat small meals more often. Avoid aspirin and drugs like ibuprofen (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs). Complications Most indigestion is harmless but annoying. The acid refluxing into the throat does not appear to cause any serious damage. The greatest danger is ignoring repeated attacks or confusing them with a heart attack. Get medical advice if your symptoms won't go away or if they get worse. Self care Your pharmacist will advise about indigestion remedies (antacids and other medicines).

indigestion refers to any number of gastrointestinal complaints, which can include gas (belching or flatulence) and upset stomach.
http://www.mycustompak.com/healthNotes/Concern/Indigestion.htm
Indigestion, Heartburn, and Low Stomach Acidity Also indexed as: Bloating (Indigestion), Dyspepsia, Flatulence, Gas (Stomach), Hypochlorhydria, Poor Digestion, Stomach Upset, Wind gastritis (inflammation of the lining of the stomach), or by an ulcer of the stomach or duodenum (also called peptic ulcer ). In some cases, such as lactose intolerance , symptoms of indigestion are due to a specific cause that requires specific treatment. Sometimes symptoms associated with indigestion are caused by diseases unrelated to the gastrointestinal tract. For example, ovarian cancer may cause a sensation of bloating. Anyone with symptoms of indigestion should be properly diagnosed by a healthcare professional before assuming that the information below is applicable to their situation. The most common cause of heartburn is gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), in which the sphincter between the esophagus and the stomach is not functioning properly. Another, related cause of heartburn is hiatal hernia, in which a small portion of the stomach protrudes through the aforementioned sphincter. According to Jonathan Wright, MD, another cause of heartburn can be too

http://quickcare.org/gast/heartburn.html
Heartburn and Indigestion
In the United States, almost 50% of the population has heartburn at least once a month; 7% have it daily. Heartburn is even more common during pregnancy, with about 1 in 4 women reporting it daily at some point during their pregnancy. Statistics on acid indigestion are difficult to find because the definition is vague, but it's probably almost as common as heartburn. Heartburn is a burning feeling in the middle of your chest caused by acid leaking upwards from the stomach into the esophagus, or swallowing tube. Doctors call this reflux esophagitis. Normally, the muscular esophagus acts like a one-way valve allowing food to enter your stomach after swallowing, but not letting anything go back up. When your esophagus is too loose where it connects to the stomach, strong stomach acid seeps back through the opening and causes heartburn. Because your esophagus doesn't have a protective lining like the stomach, it can be burned by the acid causing pain and sometimes damage. Heartburn can also cause night time cough, wheezing, and in some cases difficulty swallowing food due to scarring of the esophagus. Acid indigestion is a similar burning discomfort, but in the pit of your stomach. It can be caused by acid irritating the stomach lining or duodenum. Acid indigestion is believed to happen not just because of too much acid, but also because of too little protection from the mucus lining the stomach. Acid indigestion can burn so deeply into your stomach or duodenum that a canker sore-like crater forms (peptic ulcer disease).
