You are in: Esophagus, Stomach, and Intestine Hemorrhoids Overview Hemorrhoids are enlarged, painful veins in your rectum. They develop from 2 different places. There are 2 sets of veins that drain the blood from the lower rectum and anus.
  • The internal veins can become swollen to form internal hemorrhoids. Internal hemorrhoids, unless they are severe, cannot be seen or felt, unlike external hemorrhoids. Likewise, the external veins can swell to form external hemorrhoids. External hemorrhoids can be seen around the outside of the anus and, many times, can be felt.

hemorrhoids. hemorrhoids are swollen veins. hemorrhoids also are knownas piles. As a rule, they do not cause pain or bleeding.
    http://www.gastro.org/clinicalRes/brochures/hemorrhoids.html
Hemorrhoids Hemorrhoids are swollen veins. Each of us has veins around the anus that tend to stretch under pressure, somewhat like varicose veins in the legs. When these veins swell, we call them "hemorrhoids." One set of veins is inside the rectum (internal), and another is under the skin around the anus (external). Hemorrhoids also are known as "piles." As a rule, they do not cause pain or bleeding. Problems can occur, however, when these veins become swollen because pressure is raised in them. Increased pressure may result from straining to move your bowels, from sitting too long on the toilet, or from other factors such as pregnancy, obesity, or liver disease. What are the Symptoms of Hemorrhoids? The only sign you may notice from internal hemorrhoids is bright red blood on the toilet paper or in the toilet bowl. Sometimes, however, these veins stretch, and may even fall down (prolapse) through the anus to outside the body (protruding hemorrhoids). When this happens, the vein may become irritated and painful. The set of veins around the anus causes problems when blood clots form in them, and they become large and painful. (These are called thrombosed external hemorrhoids.) You may notice a tender lump on the edge of the anus. Bleeding starts when the swollen veins are scratched or broken by straining or rubbing. People who have external hemorrhoids may feel itching at the anus too. This might result from draining mucus and irritation caused by too much rubbing or cleaning of the anus, or alternatively by inadequate anus hygiene leading to particles of stool around the anus caught in between the hemorrhoidal protrusions. Any stool particles on the perianal skin will cause itching and irritation in this area.

    - Hemorrhoids (also known as piles) are basically swollen veins in the anus and anal canal.
    - Hemorrhoids are composed of blood vessels (veins), smooth muscles, and supporting tissue.
    - Everyone has hemorrhoids and they are a normal part of the human anus and rectal canal. Their function is to cushion the anal canal during defecation.
    - Hemorrhoids can be classified according to their location as external (close to the anal opening), internal (farther up the anal canal), and internal-external (mixed).
    - Once a problem occurs with hemorrhoids, the sufferer may be more prone to outbreaks or flare-ups in the future. Hemorrhoids may result from:
    - Increased rectal pressure during defecation (hard stool, constipation)

HEMORRHOIDS Hemorrhoids are convoluted, swollen, and stretched veins around the anus. They are an annoying and sometimes a painful problem. Complications from hemorrhoids are unusual. Common CAUSES of hemorrhoids are:
    • constipation (passing a large stool or straining during bowel movements can create excessive pressure in the veins) sitting for a long while (like long distance car riding) sitting on hard, cold surfaces infection in the area pregnancy and childbirth
The first SYMPTOM may be bright red blood that is not mixed with stools. There may also be a mucus discharge and vague discomfort. A portion of the anal lining may become pushed out of the anus during defecation. At first, this retracts by itself. Over time, however, one may have to push it back. If this occurs repeatedly, one should consult a healthcare provider, since it could become permanent. In rare cases, the protrusion's blood supply is cut off, which may result in gangrene. Other COMPLICATIONS that call for medical attention include anemia due to blood loss, intense anal itching, loss of bowel control, or intense pain. Pain occurs when there is a clot in the vein, inflammation due to protrusion, or a crack in the anal lining.

How I cured Hemorrhoids, the natural way. I prepared this page because I just went through this ordeal and could not find any helpful information on the internet explaining how to deal with it.
I’m a sporty guy and only 37, so I thought it a bit strange for me to have hemorrhoids at all. But then it occurred to me that it could be due to the fact that, after a long break, I started riding a bicycle again. I was borrowing a cheap bike with a very hard seat, and after riding 30 km or more for many days near to each other, I noticed tons of blood mingling in my stool. So many days in fact that I was seriously thinking of going to the hospital, which I almost never do.
Anyway, after much research and experimentation, I managed to find a solution to my predicament. Therefore, feel free to embark on this journey with me. As everything I do in my life, I prefer to lace it with a sense of humour (almost necessary in hard times like these). However, this could foreseeably lead to rather graphic and gruesome descriptions, so I hope you enjoy.
So, after noticing a deeply red toilet bowl for more than a week, a pain started developing and I eventually realised I had what I thought I would never have: Hemorrhoids.

Hemorrhoids A diet rich in complex carbohydrates and dietary fiber, particularly insoluble fiber , is recommended for hemorrhoid sufferers. A recent study found that skipping breakfast is significantly associated with hemorrhoids, so eating breakfast is a wise choice and a great opportunity to bulk up on dietary fiber. Fiber is helpful because it relieves constipation, which is linked to hemorrhoids. Dietary fiber attracts water, creating soft, bulky stools that stimulate bowel contractions and ease elimination. Insoluble fiber, in particular, is beneficial because it is broken down slowly, if at all, by intestinal bacteria and promotes good bowel function. Wheat bran reduces the risk of hemorrhoids because it is rich in insoluble fiber. Soluble fiber is broken down (fermented) by intestinal bacteria and has little effect on regularity. Most people associate psyllium with soluble fiber, but in fact, if you eat the husks, you are consuming insoluble fiber. Ground flaxseeds and oats also provide relief, by promoting regularity and improving bowel function. Fiber-rich

References Hemorrhoidectomy for hemorrhoids Surgery Overview Hemorrhoidectomy is surgery to remove hemorrhoids. You will be given general anesthesia or spinal anesthesia so that you will not feel pain. Incisions are made in the tissue around the hemorrhoid. The swollen vein inside the hemorrhoid is tied off to prevent bleeding, and the hemorrhoid is removed. The surgical area may be sewn closed or left open. Medicated gauze covers the wound. Surgery can be done with a knife (scalpel); a tool that uses electricity (cautery pencil); or, rarely, a laser The operation is usually done in a surgery center. You can usually go home the same day (outpatient). People older than age 70, those who are in poor health, pregnant women, people who do not have someone at home to help, and those who live more than an hour away from the surgical center will usually be hospitalized for surgery. The normal length of the hospital stay is 1 to 2 days. Doctors are studying a new procedure that uses a stapling device to remove hemorrhoidal tissue and close the wound. No incision is made. Two well-designed studies (randomized controlled trials) have shown that the technique results in less pain after surgery compared with traditional hemorrhoid surgery.
