Hemorrhoids
Hemorrhoids, also known as varicose veins, are a condition in which the veins around the anus, or in the anal canal, become swollen when stretched under pressure. Hemorrhoids are probably the most common cause of visible blood in the digestive tract, especially blood that appears bright red. They are not dangerous, although they can be very annoying and painful. Hemorrhoids are caused by pressure in the rectal veins from standing upright, sitting for long periods, and by poor bowel habits such as diarrhea, constipation, and straining at stool.

Haemorrhoids (Piles)
Haemorrhoids (often known as Piles) are enlarged and engorged blood vessels in or around the back passage (anus). These may be associated with pain, bleeding, itching and feeling as if a lump or bump is hanging down.
Symptoms
  • You may notice a pain or ache around the anus and lower bowel (rectum), which can be really quite severe.
  • There may be itching of the area.
  • There may be bleeding from the back passage. This will be bright red blood, not usually mixed in with the motion, but often seen on the toilet paper.
  • There is often a feeling of something coming down, or a bulge or lump at the anus.
  • If a haemorrhoid at the outside of the anus gets a blood clot in it (thrombosed external pile) it leads to a particularly tender, hardish lump.
Causes
Haemorrhoids are very common. They are said to be more common in countries where the diet has traditionally been more processed and low in fibre. The main contributory causes are those things that cause us to raise the pressure in the abdomen. This causes the blood vessels to swell and become engorged. It seems that the people most at risk of developing haemorrhoids are those who have more causes for raised abdominal pressure, such as:

This health education site explains all you need to know about hemorrhoids, including prevention, selfcare, specific recommendations for effective non-prescription treatments, and when to see hemorrhoids. hemorrhoids are abnormally swollen veins in the rectum and anus burn, itch, become very painful, and bleed. hemorrhoids are caused by too much pressure in the rectum
http://www.quickcare.org/gast/hemorrhoids.html
Hemorrhoids
Hemorrhoids are abnormally swollen veins in the rectum and anus. They are much like varicose veins you might see on a person's legs. When bulging hemorrhoidal veins are irritated, they cause surrounding membranes to swell, burn, itch, become very painful, and bleed. Hemorrhoids are caused by too much pressure in the rectum, forcing blood to stretch and bulge the walls of the veins, sometimes rupturing them. Listed below are the most frequent causes of hemorrhoids:
  • Constant sitting Straining with bowel movements (from constipation or hard stools) Diarrhea Sitting on the toilet for a long time Severe coughing Childbirth Heavy Lifting
There are two kinds of hemorrhoids: internal and external (see diagram).
  • Internal hemorrhoids usually don't hurt or itch; you can't feel them because they are deep inside the rectum. Internal hemorrhoids are pretty harmless. But since their bleeding could mask blood from a dangerous source like colorectal cancer, they should be treated. External hemorrhoids cause most of the symptoms we commonly hear about - pain, burning, and itching. If an external hemorrhoid becomes strangulated (cut off from blood supply), a clot can form in it and become an excruciatingly painful thrombosed hemoroid. Because of these unpleasant symptoms, external hemorrhoids get the most treatment attention.
Once the rectal veins have been stretched out and hemorrhoids created, they are difficult to get rid of completely and tend to recur with less straining than it took to cause them in the first place. Fortunately, good habits and simple medical treatment usually control hemorrhoids well, and surgery is only recommended in unusually severe cases.

If you do not know the meaning of a word in this article, for a definition click on http://www.m-w.com (Mirriam-Webster). For unknown words also see the On-Line Medical Dictionary See this site (for a summary of potassium and copper nutrition) INTRODUCTION I have previously proposed that rheumatoid arthritis is accentuated by losses of potassium in our food supply and is largely a chronic potassium deficiency [Weber 1974] which causes alterations inside the cell of free amino acids [Iacobellis], interference by sodium with enzymes inside the cell as a result of the increased sodium there [Rubini], alterations of the potassium-sodium regulating hormone patterns which then affect other physiological processes, or some combination of these. I have come to believe that a disturbance of copper metabolism is the most serious symptom of these other processes. The aspect of copper physiology which is most potentially dangerous is its role in activating lysyl oxidase, the enzyme which cross links collagen and elastin connecting tissue [Sandberg, et al]. Copper's effect on elastin is especially important because elastin gains its strength primarily from cross linking [Carnes1971(discusses copper aminases)] and because elastin is the main material of several important organs, which include blood vessels, spinal discs, lungs, and skin [Carnes, 1977]. 4 to 6 of 100 Americans autopsied died of a ruptured aneurysm and 40% of them had unruptured aneurysms [from a dead URL]. This relationship may be a large part of the reduction in aneurysms which increased potassium produces.

What are Hemorrhoids?
Hemorrhoids are swollen but normally present blood vessels in and around the anus and lower rectum that stretch under pressure. Hemorrhoids are very similar to varicose veins in the legs. The increased pressure and swelling may result from straining to move the bowel. Factors contributing to hemorrhoids are: pregnancy, heredity, aging, and chronic constipation or diarrhea. Hemorrhoids may occur inside the anus (internal) or under the skin around the anus (external). An internal hemorrhoid may protrude through the anus outside the body. This is called a protruding hemorrhoid. Symptoms? There are many symptoms and everyone with hemorrhoids will not experience all of the symptoms. Some of the symptoms are: bright red blood covering the stool, painful swelling around the anus, a hard lum around the anus, fissures, fistulae, abscesses, or irritation and itching (pruritus ani). Excessive straining, rubbing or cleaning the anus may worsen symptoms. What Causes Hemorrhoids?

What are hemorrhoids? Hemorrhoids are varicose veins rectal bleeding , especially during a bowel movement. second stage of labor , while you're pushing. Either way, you'll find they often go away on their own (or with some simple measures mentioned below) some time after delivery. Why are they common during pregnancy? There are a few reasons that pregnancy makes you more prone to hemorrhoids (as well as varicose veins in the legs and sometimes even in the vulva). Your growing uterus puts pressure on the pelvic veins and the inferior vena cava (a large vein on the right side of the body that receives blood from the lower limbs). This can slow the return of blood from the lower half of your body, thus increasing the pressure on the veins below the level of your uterus and causing them to become more dilated or swollen. Constipation , another common problem during pregnancy, can also cause or aggravate hemorrhoids because you tend to strain when having a hard bowel movement. In addition, an increase in the hormone progesterone during pregnancy causes the walls of your veins to relax, allowing them to swell more easily (and also contributes to constipation by slowing things down in your intestinal tract).

    Hemorrhoids Eliminated
Hemorrhoids are perhaps one of the most uncomfortable and embarrassing medical conditions to be dealing with today, despite the fact that over 10 million Americans suffer from them. The condition can be painful, distressing and lead to serious complications. Now you don't have to worry or get an expensive surgical treatment – our Healing Cream will eliminate hemorrhoids quickly and painlessly in the privacy of your home, without you ever having to face the druggist or pharmacist! No more calling off work because you can't sit still, no more pacing the floor because it's too uncomfortable to sit down. Hemorrhoids are swollen veins located in the rectum and anus, rather like varicose veins. Because they become swollen, they irritate surrounding tissue, triggering burning, itching, swelling and sometimes bleeding. If you have internal hemorrhoids, you may not be aware that you have them. If they are external, they should be treated as soon as possible to alleviate the pain and itching and to prevent a strangulated blood vessel, which can be terribly painful. Our Hemorrhoid Healing Cream is a mixture of natural oils and anti-inflammatories that will soothe the condition on contact and reduce the swelling of the veins, shrinking the hemorrhoids without using drugs. This all-natural treatment is the best on the market to safely alleviate the suffering from this embarrassing condition. We also offer a Healing Cream for bleeding hemorrhoids that is specially formulated to treat the more acute pain and stop any bleeding. This should be followed by use of the original formula Healing Cream.
