A preliminary study, presented at the European Conference on Nutrition and Cancer
20 years of research and scientific studies
show fruits and vegetables help prevent diseases such as stroke and colorectal cancer and vegetables lowers the risk of heart disease.
Karin Michels, Lead researcher of the Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts: "The most important thing I want to get out is they should eat a diet rich in fruits and vegetables in spite of all these findings. ...fruits and vegetables definitely protect for other important diseases such as cardiovascular disease, stroke, diabetes and potentially other cancers. These are some of the best foods we can eat - there is no doubt about it." (the Journal of the National Cancer Institute)
While most health experts agree that poor eating habits are a major reason why more than half a million of Americans die of cancer each year.

Creating Artificial Macrophages Using Nitric Oxide Encapsulation
Nitric oxide(NO) is a magic gas molecule, which is critical to numerous biological processes, including vasodilation, neurotransmission(Viagra reverses impotence by enhancing an NO-stimulated pathway) and macrophage-mediated micro-organism and tumor killing. It is molecule of year in 1992 by science and Nobel prize in 1998. Previously , NO is administrated in chemical synthesized form called NO donor. The most famous one is nitroglycerin, people used it for treatment of heart disease for 100 years. But NO donor is not only release NO , but some other chemicals ,which may not be desirable. We have developed a novel methods, in which we use molecular biology by adding synthetic molecular ,such as tetracycline, which is safe to use in human and induce cell produce nitric oxide at does and time dependent manner. We have entrapped nitric oxide (NO) generating cells within a semipermeable membrane such as alginate-Poly-L-Lysine membrane. This process allows the diffusion of small molecules such as nutrients and NO, while protecting the cells from host defense mechanisms. We have used these micorencapsualted NO-generating cells as 'artificial macro phages', in a nude mouse tumor model, and demonstrated the suppression of growth of tumor.
