Extracted from: 'NOT ANOTHER HEADACHE' HANDBOOK
Headache is one of the most common ailments affecting thousands of Australians every day. Migraine alone directly affects about 12% of the population. The symptoms and pain associated with the various types of headache can be difficult for your doctor to recognise. This makes it hard to pin point exactly what type of headache is the problem and the best treatment for it. The Australian Headache Society (AHS) http://www.headache.com.au/ is a not-for-profit organisation committed to researching and learning more about headache, migraine and their treatments. The AHS encourages all headache sufferers to consult their doctor if they are unsure of what type of headache they suffer from or if they have any questions regarding treatment. Almost everyone gets headaches, but not all headaches are the same. Some are a mild twinge while others are so severe you cannot function. There are different types of headache, each bought on by different causes and requiring a different treatment. A headache is rarely the symptom of a severe disorder, such as a brain tumour. However, it does mean something is wrong, so it should not be ignored. It's particularly important to seek medical help if your headaches are severe or keep coming back..

(AP) Has the latest Harry Potter fantasy cast a spell of "Hogwarts headaches" on some of its most avid readers? A pediatrician says he had three otherwise healthy children complain of headaches for two to three days last summer. It turns out all had been reading the 870-page "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" in marathon sessions. "The kids I saw were all avid Harry Potter fans who just plowed through the book," said Dr. Howard J. Bennett, whose office is in Washington. "A lot of my kids would be reading six, eight hours a day. And it's a big book for a 9- or 10-year-old child." He dubbed their ailment "Hogwarts headache" after the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry that the boy wizard attends. He said the youngsters' headaches were probably caused by tensing their head muscles for long periods. One of the children also had neck and wrist pain.

Headache BASIC FACTS ABOUT HEADACHES
Twenty million Americans see their doctors each year because of a headache. Although headaches can be very uncomfortable and temporarily disabling, most are not associated with serious illness. They can often be relieved by resting in a quiet room or by taking a nonprescription painkiller such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen. When a person has a headache, several areas of the head can hurt, including a network of nerves that extends over the scalp and certain nerves in the face, mouth and throat. Rarely, headache is a symptom of a dangerous condition such cerebral aneurysm, brain tumor, stroke, TIA, meningitis, or encephalitis. Very high blood pressure can cause headaches and this situation is a medical emergency. However, high blood pressure usually causes no symptoms at all, despite the damage that years of high blood pressure can do to blood vessels, heart, brain, and kidneys. If you have any doubt about your headache, contact your physician. HEADACHE BASICS
The most common type of headache is "tension headache." Tension headaches generally develop gradually, often involve the entire head as well as the neck and shoulders. They probably are not actually caused by increased muscle tension, although muscle relaxation techniques can be very useful in treatment. Most people get tension headaches occasionally and these can usually be treated simply. Some people get them often, but there are usually some useful interventions to help decrease the number of sick days.

How Priceline's Grocery Service Delivers Headaches
The name-your-own-price site known for travel bargains may save you a few bucks on food but doesn't get the packages to your door. In fact, it adds to your shopping hassles
What a bargain! A huge 13 1/4-ounce bag of Lay's Potato Chips for only $1.74. That's at least one-third off the sticker price. After bidding and paying at priceline.com's new name-your-own-price grocery site, I go to a participating Manhattan store to pick up the goods. But there's one problem. The chips aren't there. In fact, the manager says, they will never be there. This store doesn't stock that brand in this size. But perhaps I can get it at another supermarket 10 blocks away. I cringe.
WebHouse Club offers too few brands, sizes, and items to finish your shopping online. You can't bid for basics like milk or eggs, for example
But that doesn't necessarily mean they'll like priceline's version of grocery shopping. What online grocery rivals such as Webvan Group Inc. and Peapod Inc. have in common is the convenience they offer: The groceries come to your door. Not priceline. Instead of betting that convenience is king, priceline's WebHouse Club is about delivering price and sticking you with all the little hassles a bargain might require. You nervously bid for your groceries, plunk down your credit card without knowing exactly what brand you'll get, then go to pick your purchases up at one of priceline's partner stores. Priceline's formula works in the travel market, but accepting a red-eye flight with a stop in Podunk might save hundreds of dollars. When it's just a bag of chips at stake, the trade isn't nearly as appealing.

16 December 2002 Add your opinion Forward in Format for In the days before Christmas the amount of spam e-mail being sent and received looks set to soar as marketing machines and e-greetings firms go into seasonal overdrive. As well as being inundated with the perennial spam e-mails about scams and financial services, computer users are also facing the added inbox burden brought about by Christmas. Alarmingly, as we approach Christmas 2002, spam-filtering firm Brightmail has released figures which show spam now accounts for 40 percent of all e-mail. In the run-up to Christmas 2001, this figure was a comparatively meager eight percent, highlighting the extent of the problem this time around. But as well as simple e-mail overload and a further pre-Christmas drop in office productivity, antivirus vendor Sybari is warning network administrators of holiday offers and greetings that may also be carrying more than holiday cheer.
