FBC refers to the breast lumpiness that occurs as a result of tissue changes. This is not a disease process but a variation in the normal changes that occur in the breast. What are the changes? Cysts (tissue sacs filled with fluid) and changes in the fibrous tissue of the breast (scarring) cause lumpiness. These lumps usually come and go in response to the hormone changes associated with the menstrual cycle. The breasts may be painful or tender.
