Research into Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is hindered by the considerable heterogeneity seen across patients, but several reports have highlighted disturbances to cholinergic mechanisms in terms of central nervous system activity, neuromuscular function and autoantibodies to muscarinic cholinergic receptors. This paper examines an altogether separate function for acetylcholine and that is its role as an important and generalized vasodilator.

Introduction : Welcome to my Website on Chronic Fatigue Syndrome ( CFS, CFIDS, ME, M.E ) . The site contains over 200 research publications on Chronic Fatigue Syndrome ( CFS ) collected out of different medical journals. The goal of the website is to bring together all recent information on Chronic Fatigue Syndrome ( CFS ).
The site will be updated regularly, at least once a month.
About Chronic Fatigue Syndrome: Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is a very mysterious disease and often very hard to diagnose.Until a solid marker is found, the diagnosis to Chronic Fatigue Syndrome ( CFS ) is mostly a long way of exclusion. I hope this will change in the near future.
Now lot's of CFS patients are often not taken seriously and neglected because 'the scientists' can't find what's wrong, although we have very serious symptoms and are often disabled to a certain level, sometimes even almost completely bedridden.

Millions of people live with Chronic Immunological and Neurological Diseases (CIND) such as Fibromyalgia Syndrome (FMS), Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS, CFIDS), Myofascial Pain Syndrome (MPS), and others. The majority of people living with these conditions are women, although they have also been reported in men and children. We understand how difficult day to day life can be when living with chronic fatigue and pain because we also live with it. That's why we developed this website. We wanted to provide a place where you can go to find information and support without the need to wade through all of the irrelevant information and advertisements usually provided by larger websites. In order to keep the website going without advertisments we do accept donations thru paypal.

    Chronic fatigue syndrome
VOL 111 / NO 4 / APRIL 2002 / POSTGRADUATE MEDICINE "I'm exhausted." We all are apt to say those words once in a while. After all, no one is immune to being tired. But for some people, fatigue stops them in their tracks. It arrives suddenly or comes and goes for no apparent reason, or it may never relent. If you're tired beyond the normal waves of energy that everyday life brings and are not suffering from a particular illness, chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) may be playing a role. What is CFS?
For many people, CFS begins after a cold or a bout with the flu, bronchitis, or other infection. But unlike these illnesses, which usually go away in a few days or weeks, CFS symptoms wax and wane in frequent but unpredictable cycles. According to the International Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Study Group, a person may have CFS if he or she has unexplained, persistent fatigue along with four or more of the following symptoms for more than 6 months:
    • Substantial impairment in short-term memory or concentration
    • Sore throat
    • Tender lymph nodes
    • Muscle pain
    • Pain in multiple joints without swelling or redness
    • Headaches of a new type, pattern, or severity

ACCOMMODATING PEOPLE WITH CHRONIC FATIGUE SYNDROME

By Linda Carter Batiste, J.D. , and Beth Loy, Ph.D. Preface Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) affects an estimated 75 to 265 people per 100,000 people according to a recent study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). These statistics, coupled with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), show why knowing about workplace accommodations for people with CFS is important. When considering accommodations for people with CFS, the accommodation process must be conducted on a case-by-case basis. Symptoms caused by CFS vary so when determining effective accommodations, the person's individual abilities and limitations should be considered and problematic job tasks must be identified. Therefore, the person with CFS should be involved in the accommodation process. Not all people with CFS will need accommodations to perform their jobs and many others may need only a few accommodations. For those who need accommodation, the following pages provide basic information about common limitations, symptoms, useful questions to consider, and accommodation possibilities. The following is only a sample of possibilities to consider; numerous other solutions and considerations may exist.

    Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
    What is Chronic Fatigue Syndrome?
We all get tired. Many of us at times have felt depressed. But the mystery known as chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) is not like the normal ups and downs we experience in everyday life. The early sign of this illness is a strong and noticeable fatigue that comes on suddenly and often comes and goes or never stops. You feel too tired to do normal activities or are easily exhausted with no apparent reason. Unlike the mind fog of a serious hangover, to which researchers have compared CFS, the profound weakness of CFS does not go away with a few good nights of sleep. Instead, it slyly steals your energy and vigor over months and sometimes years.
How CFS Begins and Its Symptoms
For many people, CFS begins after a bout with a cold, bronchitis, hepatitis, or an intestinal bug. For some, it follows a bout of infectious mononucleosis, or mono, which temporarily saps the energy of many teenagers and young adults. Often, people say that their illnesses started during a period of high stress. In others, CFS develops more gradually, with no clear illness or other event starting it. Unlike flu symptoms, which usually go away in a few days or weeks, CFS symptoms either hang on or come and go frequently for more than six months. CFS symptoms include:

The Chronic Syndrome Support Association, Inc., is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation. It was founded in 1997 in order to educate the general population and health-care professionals who lack current knowledge of the research being done, and potential research that needs to be done, on these serious, yet invisible, Chronic Immunological and Neurological Disorders (CIND) , which include Fibromyalgia Syndrome (FMS), Gulf War Syndrome (GWS), Multiple Chemical Sensitivities Syndrome (MCS), Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME, the term used in most of the world) / Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS, the term used in the United States), Chronic Myofascial Pain (CMP), Post-Polio Syndrome (PPS) and related illnesses. It is our goal to promote awareness of these illnesses, and in the process we hope to contribute to the growing body of knowledge about them. Learn more about these 'invisible' illnesses in our pamphlet , which can be downloaded in its actual format with Adobe Reader. If you believe you may have one of these illnesses, seek the assistance of a supportive health-care professional who is familiar with CIND and their treatments.
