My life was great until the year 2000 - I have been taking a lot of drugs /Zocor, Tritace, Milurit, Urandil, Lipantil - I take drugs as many as my dady :-)/, in my foot is only 40 grams of protein per day, I can´t absolutelly dring and smoke... I´m wearing aids. Someone could say: "Poor girl", but I´m not. I have been studing university - political science and I want to do in my life something big :-) But sometimes I feel lonely, becouse I realise, that I´m ill and none of my friends can´t understand me - they aren´t ill... Alports is a quiet disease with no cure but we were told that in most cases the disease is worse for males, than females. Males always experience kidney failure. Unfortunately I've only seen messages from a couple people regarding Alports on the message board so you may not get any response. It is a rare disease and even doctors have never heard of it. Our son has Alports Syndrome. He started wearing hearing aids at age 18. He finished 4 years of college - graduated - and has an interesting job. His kidneys failed 4 years ago when he was 34 years old. Most people have never heard of Alports and have no idea what that means to someone who has been diagnosed with the disease. Our son says that his friends really don't understand the disease either, but he enjoys the time he spends with them and makes lots of memories. Good luck with your studies.
