ADD / ADHD
My son, J.P., did... and 5 million other kids do too. And because of this, I scoured the planet for answers . I spent years solving the heartaches, learning issues, homework struggles, behavioral problems, forgetfulness, and plain old, jaw clenching, exasperating everyday frustrations!
As a teacher of nearly every grade, a tutor, a reading specialist, school administrator, university instructor, author and learning center Director, I’ve spent my life coaching thousands of students “labeled” with attention deficit disorders of all kinds. I have to admit – this motivated me even more to find, create and implement, real-life, practical solutions
to the AD(H)D dilemma.

Amy's Dedication To Her Children
Me Andrew and Sarah I was adopted shortly before my first birthday in 1971 and, after a 2 week search, I found my birthmother in 1994. Less than one month later I found my birthfather. My first three links are to sites that I found to be very informative for those persons involved in adoption. I feel that, since I found my biological family, a void has finally been filled in my life and I would like to help others find their family as well.
I have two wonderful children named Andrew and Sarah and a great husband named Chris . Andrew has ADHD and Autism, that is why I chose to add links to those two topics as well. I hope that the links will help people in a similar situation to find the resources they need. If you know of a site that deals with any of these topics, please feel free to give me the URL to the site and I will give you credit on my page for your contribution.

Of add vs. adhd. Two Types add without Hyperactivity and adhd display different symptoms, have different effects and require different treatment.......
http://www.ldpride.net/addsub-types.htm
Description Of ADD vs. ADHD
Click Home Description Of ADD vs. ADHD Definition: AD/HD is the presence of a genetic biochemical disorder that does not allow people to work to their full potential. The Brain: a) Frontal Lobe integrates all the information b) Parietal area processes sensory information c) Temporal – memory, balance, and hearing d) Occipital is the visual area Only the Frontal and Parietal areas are involved in AD/HD. Neurotransmitters: The brain talks to itself chemically and electronically. The chemical messengers are called neurotransmitters. A chemical imbalance is a neurotransmitter failure.
S ymptoms can vary from day to day, hour to hour and sometimes cannot be seen. They affect everyone differently
Two Types: ADD without Hyperactivity and AD H D display different symptoms, have different effects and require different treatment.
ADD without Hyperactivity
ADD with Hyperactivity
Cause: The cause seems to reside primarily in the parietal lobe. The frontal lobe processes are intact.
The size and structure of many brain areas differs; especially, a lack of activity in the frontal area (“Hypofrontality”). This is linked

ADHD: A Path to Success
A Revolutionary Theory and New Innovation
in Drug-Free Therapy Lawrence Weathers, Ph.D.
Psychologist
Most ADHD books rehash the same worn out theories and treatments. Instead, ADHD : A Path to Success offers a new and refreshing perspective on attention deficit disorder that makes sense with your own personal daily experience. ADHD : A Path to Success takes it out of the realm of medical mystery and psychobabble and describes a new, no drug, no diet, no nonsense, patented treatment technology. Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is not a deficit, defect or neurological disorder. Rather, it is a highly refined, short-term coping skill that backfires in the long-run. Children adapt to unpleasant situations the same way adults do, by building emotional defenses. ADHD is a skilled defense that children develop against the unpleasant situations we put them in at home and school. Once the aversiveness of these situations and the attention deficit hyperactivity disorder type defenses are extinguished, attention improves, agitation and hyperactivity decreases, school and homework are much easier. Other approaches that treat these children are based on an adult's view of the problem. However, you can only help your child when you understand their experience of attention deficit disorder through their eyes. The engaging story of his personal struggle and conquest of

A KID'S GUIDE TO ADHD by Jamie Crist, Ph.D. Introduction This article is written especially for kids ages 7-12 to help them understand what ADHD is, how it is treated, and how they can help themselves. While younger kids will benefit by having a parent or another older person read it to them, children ages 9-12 should be able to read this on their own. What is ADHD? ADHD stands for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. It is also sometimes called ADD for Attention Deficit Disorder. They are pretty much the same thing, though ADHD is the official name. If you are reading this article, chances are that you have ADHD or are at least wondering whether or not you might have it. ADHD is something that kids, teens, or adults can have. People with ADHD have a hard time paying attention, sitting still, or thinking about what they say or do before blurting something out or behaving in a certain way.

Surviving ADD in the Workplace
One of the major complaints of adults with ADD is the many different jobs they have held during their lives and their inability to stay in one job for a long period of time. While others may say this is an indication of immaturity or irresponsibility, it may be the result of not having the proper accomodations at work or not creating situations in which you can succeed. This week's newsletter looks at surviving ADD in the workplace and succeeding in spite and sometimes because of ADD.
