This was the first Rumpole story to be written, having been commissioned from John Mortimer by the BBC as part of a television series called 'Play for Today'. Preceded in death by husband, Michael and grandson, Larry Brummet. Wenzel F. "Augie" Augustian, age 83, of Whiting, passed away Saturday, July 12, 2003 at St. Catherine Hospital. He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Pauline (nee Gauder); brother-in-law, John (Marlin) Gauder of Hobart; four sisters-in-law, Suzanne (late Robert) Bailey of Laguna Beach, CA, Ruth (late James) Staton of Chicago Heights, IL, Beth (Alden) Kunnemann of Hammond and Mildred (late Joseph) Gauder of Merrillville; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Pauline Grover and Marjorie Zacny and a niece, Carol Stepich. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2003 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Whiting, IN, with Rev. Kevin Bergmann officiating. Interment, Concordia Cemetery, Hammond. Visitation at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting, on Tuesday from 3:00 to 8:00 PM, and at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until time of services. Devotional Services at the funeral home Tuesday at 7:00 PM.
