Bach's "Brandenburg Concerto No.... more info Customer Rating: I bought this as wallpaper music - and got a very pleasant surprise! Extractions: I have only been able to listen to tracks on radio once, to be honest. But I have since looking hard to find it. I have listened to the first 2 tracks (the Mozart Rondo and Adagio), one of the Paganinini caprices, and the last track - Allegro assai from Bachs violin sonata no 3). The Mozart tracks showed Milstein in rare romantic form, and very sweet indeed. As the radio host commented, Milsteins Paganini sounded like Bach, and yet his Bach sounded like Paganini. But thte Allegro assai - it is the fastest Allegro assai Ive ever heard. He is here, in a live performance, faster than both of his complete studio recordings of the Bach solo violin repertoire that I possess. It was so fast and exciting and yet in such control. This ERM107 has been so difficult to find, and Im glad that it is now available.
Extractions: With the caveats that this is a long review and that I am not a violinist, I must say that these performances grip me in wondrously mysterious manners that are difficult to articulate, but here goes. . . . How he manages this feat I still cannot fully comprehend, though, as I age in this art, I believe that a sort of Truth is emerging in my mind regarding Interpretation in general, even though I have resisted this fact for years: while opinions on so many aspects of performance (tempi, dynamics, etc. in 2 words "artistic interpretation") vary widely from artist to artist and from work to work, there are some aspects of great pieces of music that one can "get" right and wrong. Only by working through the long and painful process of learning what those truths are can one craft an interpretation of a work that strikes the majority of people as basically "right."

Extractions: But over what might have been as many as five or six years, Nathan Milstein did indeed paint murals on the walls surrounding my electric trains. On every trip to Chicago he descended to the basement, where his paints were stored. He removed his jacket, rolled up the sleeves of those splendid English-tailored shirts, and painted mountains replete with pine trees, ravines dotted with small wildflowers of red and yellow and orange, and even, way in the distance, small trains carrying their magical freight to villages beyond the mountains.

Extractions: Google News about your search term A violinist is an instrumentalist who plays the violin . The terms fiddler or fiddle player are also used. In classical music the "fiddle" terms are usually somewhat informal or jokey: they are more standard expressions in folk music. In between there are nuances of meaning and usage which are difficult to formalize. Composer-violinists were common in the Baroque era - all played the violin excellently. In the early 19th century, Niccol³ Paganini did much to expand the instrument's technique. Other notable 19th century violinists include Joseph Joachim (who was friends with Johannes Brahms Leopold Auer (who taught many famous violinists of following generations), Pablo de Sarasate Henri Vieuxtemps and Eugene Ysaye.
