Leave us proceed with business. A mental picture of Ed Gardner immediately flashes across the mind of your true radio listener when this corny bit of speech is used. Which is all well and good as far as the master of malaprop is concerned. In fact, Gardner has turned the malapropism into a national institution. But Gardner didnt become such an influence on the nations conversational habits by growing up in a transom, as he might put it. What then, lies behind a man who could turn an English Grammarians nightmare into a highly profitable way of life? Eddie Gardner was born Edward Poggenberg on June 29, 1901, in Astoria, Long Island. At the age of fourteen, Gardner secured his first after-school job as a pianist at OBryans café, a colorful neighborhood bistro that served partly as a model for Duffys. Had Ed suspected the significance of this position, things might have been different.

They both wanted a standard of health care for the coast that is unequaled in other communities. Tom had the idea of allowing people to get more advanced health care in this community. There are procedures that must be done in a hospital that could be done in an advanced care clinic. Dan had an ongoing interest in using his talents as an architect to design a facility to house a community health care center. That was the genesis of the Rural Health Care Corporation. Over the past seven or eight years several people and organizations have had visions about improving the availability and quality of community health care. This area runs from Jenner north to Irish Beach. Studies indicate that 75 percent of the coastal population over the age of 55 prefer to stay in this area, even after they no longer are able to live independently. Obviously then, the need for elder housing and updated medical and ambulance services is becoming a real issue.
Extractions: Recordings are listed in chronological order: Emile Berliner. "The Lord’s Prayer" and "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star." (ca. 1888) Emile Berliner, the inventor of the microphone and founder of the first disc record company, lived and worked in Washington, D.C. A contemporary of Thomas Edison, Berliner believed that the wax cylinder developed by Edison and his partners was too soft and fragile for making a permanent recording. He developed the first process for mass-production of disc recordings. These are two of his early recordings. Vess Ossman. "Honolulu Cake Walk." (1898) During the era of ragtime music's greatest popularity, the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the syncopated music was typically recorded by bands, orchestras, or small ensembles, or accordion, xylophone, or banjo soloists. Vess Ossman, called "The Banjo King," was the one of the most prolific recording artists of that time. His "Honolulu Cake Walk" is a prime example of recorded ragtime banjo.
