Extractions: Torball is a ball game, developed in the 1970's for blind and visually impaired people. Torball is an intensive team sport for blind and visually handycapped persons. The game suits men and women of all ages. There are lots of facilities in this game for rehabilitation activities as well as leisure, school and top level sport. Torball is played on a rectangular court of 16 m in length and 7 m in width. On the court are six players from two teams, i.e. three players per team. A goal is erected at either end of the rectangular court. The game is played with a bell ball, wich must be thrown underneath three cords tightened across the court. The object of the game is for each team to throw the ball across the opponent´s goal line while the other team attemps to prevent this from happening. Then, the former defending team takes on the attacking play and former attackers in turn defend their goal. A particularity of the game is the ball, wich weights only 500 grams and is pumped up with air. Its qualities allow to play very tricky and fast. Torball demands for the ability of concentration and reaction by the players. Torball has got what it takes to spread even further and become a paralympic sport. Torball is a speedy and dynamic game. It is enormously popular specially in countries in Central Europe and in Latin America. Thus it is also played on the other Continents, Asia, African and Oceania. Torball is presumedly played in about 30 countries by almost 1'200 persons.

Extractions: TORBALL Il torball è lo sport più diffuso tra i non vedenti italiani. Si gioca prevalentemente in palestra; il campo di gioco misura 7 x 16 metri e le porte, alte 1,30, occupano tutto il lato corto del rettangolo. I tre giocatori di ogni squadra lanciano con le mani una palla sonorizzata verso la squadra avversaria, diventando, di volta in volta, attaccanti o difensori. Come tutte le discipline sportive di squadra, anche il torball necessita di una buona preparazione atletica e tecnica. Tra le varie protezioni utilizzate dagli atleti, gli occhiali oscurati impediscono a coloro che hanno un residuo visivo di guardare; mentre i tappeti fissati al pavimento servono per lorientamento in campo dei giocatori. Il torball è diffuso anche nei principali paesi dellEuropa centrale. In Italia si disputano tre campionati maschili, serie A, B e C con 12 formazioni per ogni divisione ed un torneo femminile. Il torball bergamasco è nato nel 1985; partecipa al campionato italiano con una squadra dal 1986 e con due dall87. "FEDERAZIONE ITALIANA SPORT DISABILI", e i suoi atleti hanno sempre ottenuto ottimi risultati. L'atletica leggera per non vedenti non prevede sostanziali differenze rispetto a quella praticata dai normovedenti. Le uniche eccezioni, seppur sostanziali, riguardano gli atleti (ciechi assoluti), i quali, per ovvi motivi, gareggiano nelle gare su pista accompagnati da un atleta-guida (per mezzo di un cordino tenuto a mo' di bracciale ai polsi di entrambi) e nei salti e lanci vengono guidati nell'espletamento della prova da richiami acustici da parte dell'allenatore. Sobre el campo se ubican seis jugadores de dos equipos, i.e. tres jugadores por equipo. A cada extremo del campo rectangular se encuentran los arcos. El juego se realiza con una pelota sonora que debe ser arrojada por debajo de tres cuerdas ajustadas a lo largo de la cancha. El objetivo del juego es que cada equipo arroje la pelota en la línea de gol del oponente mientras que el otro equipo intenta evitarlo.
