The European Real Tennis Championships November 4th The European real tennis Championships. November 4th10th 2003. Sponsoredby Independent Painting Contractors. to whom we are extremely grateful. http://www.prested.com/echamps.htm
Extractions: The European Real Tennis Championships November 4th-10th 2003 Sponsored by Independent Painting Contractors to whom we are extremely grateful Rob Fahey, World Champion, showed why by beating World Number 3 Chris Bray 6-0, 6-2, 6-1. This after Chris had won a mammoth five-setter Semi-Final against Mike Gooding, 6-5 in the fifth. Rob is shown here receiving the non-monetary part of his prize from former World Champion, and Honorary Founder Life member of Prested Hall, Chris Ronaldson (left), ably assisted by sponsor Bryan Eaton. After much difficult deliberation it was decided to award the holiday of a chalet holiday for two, very kindly donated by Total Ski Holidays, to Kevin Sheldon. Aged 52 he beat two much younger pretenders to qualify for the main event, each match on the same day (after a 5.30am start) and each going to three sets. He then came back and took more games off Rob than each of his two subsequent opponents. He then had to scratch from the British Open and this is some compensation!! Rob's demolition job on Chris ran him a close second but in the end we felt Rob had done only what he's been doing for years, winning in straight sets against someone who probably didn't believe he had much chance (and on this occasion, slightly tired by another match earlier in the day). Rob's play was nevertheless awesome!
