The Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games tennis event was an amazing development in the sport with record crowds turning out daily to watch the competition. The home crowd was not disappointed when Aussie David Hall won the gold medal defeating Stephen Welch of the USA. The Dutch women secured their dominance of the sport with Esther Vergeer winning the gold, Sharon Walraven the silver and with Maaike Smit adding a bronze medal to her Atlanta gold.
