Extractions: Gaeil Triucha CLG Camogie This national girls' game was founded in Dublin in 1904 but did not make much progress in this area until the 1930's. Football clubs were directed to promote camogie and as a result clubs were formed all over North Monaghan, including Goland, Monaghan, Emyvale, Glaslough, Moybridge, Mullan Mills, Griggy, Carrickroe, Ballyoisin and Clara. Moybridge, although a very strong contingent trained by a customs official, played under the auspiced of Tyrone County Board. By the mid-thirties, a man named Charlie Finn formed a Ballyoisin team. Most of their practice and matches took place in McGeough's field and as motor cars were scarce, one lady recalls how the late Eddie John Kelly took the team on his tractor and trailer to play a match in Rockcorry. Once again the game went out of favour in Truagh and not until 1963 when a curate in Clara, Fr. Peter McGuinness, revived the game in the Killybrone and Amackalin schools along with a few girls from Augher came together for practice matches and sports in Peter Oiney's field. Ballyoisin and Clara joined forces to recruit a Truagh Club in the following year. Although not winning any titles within the county, they won the Augher Tournament. This was a very skillful team, two of which played for the county at that time - Maura McElwain and Della Skinnader. The former also played on the Ulster team, the latter being a sub.

Played at Tallaght's Thomas Davis club, Dublin deservedly led by 1-02 to 0-04 following a tight first half. However, Tipp took command after the break with McDonnell's goal in the 51st minute proving decisive to earn a clash against Wexford, 2-13 to 1-13 conquerors of defending champions Cork on Saturday, in the National League final. Centre back Ciara Gaynor (a daughter of Len) and Paula Bulsin in midfield were outstanding for Tipperary. Filed by Shane Murray
