I was one who saw the original for what it was, and enjoyed it a bit. It had some major flaws, but nonetheless could be a secondary pick-up-and-play wrestling game. Well, according to the developer whom I had a good talk with, they have heard the complaints and the issues that the gamers and press have told them about, and are responding. And so controller in hand, I began to hook up the pain on my new developer friend. He thought he was good, but I was better for sure.

    Extractions: Backyard Wrestling 2's combat system is improved over its prequel. The controls feel tighter, and the computer actually gives you a fighting chance. There also seems to be less of those annoying "homing weapons" from the first game. Speaking of weapons, there are a slew of cool objects to bludgeon your opponents. Most of the environments are destructible and can be altered in some way. For example, you can use a burning piece of wood to light things on fire, and in a new twist, you can do environmental grapples. For example, I grappled, then pressed triangle, and my wrestler took my opponent, stuffed half of her body into the trunk of a car and repeatedly closed it! Gruesome! Also new to the gameplay are submission holds, a defense system, and body part damage.
