Extractions: Dockers Defeated in Nashville The Cincinnati Dockers travelled to Nashville to take on long time rivals the Nashville Kangaroos. The Dockers went into the game with the series lead 12 matches to 8. Unfortunately, the 'Roos made up for last years loss to the Dockers by convincingly defeating Cincinnati 15.14.104 to 4.4.28. The game was played on a water logged field with rain continuing to drench the field throughout the day. The Dockers got out to an early 6-0 lead on a goal from Mike Hanavan but a couple early fouls helped the 'Roos bounce back. The Dockers were down 3.0.18 to Nashville's 5.3.33 at quarter time despite kicking goals with deadly accuracy. From that point forward Nashville dominated the game keeping the Dockers to just one more goal while scoring 10. Cincinnati featured five players that were playing in their first game ever and several that have played less than 5 games. With some more practice time and game experience the Dockers can surely become a team to be reckoned with. Read the match report 2004 Training Schedule Announced The Cincinnati Dockers have announced there 2004 training schedule. The will practice on Wednesday's at Coy Field in Clifton and on Saturday's in Fairfield on their home grounds.

Extractions: Welcome to a web site devoted to the history of Australian football, containing the following sections: QUICK LINKS (this page only): Details of two superb, limited edition prints by Peter Vasic Details of Max Sayer's recent Champions of Australia book ... Contact Information Visitors to the site should note that not all of the sections are complete. Please refer to the Update Schedule for the latest 'state of play'. However, whatever one thinks about its quality, what can not be denied is that Full Points Footy is the single, largest Australian football-related historical resource (as distinct from purely chronological summaries) on the web. As of the end of April 2004, the site comprised 676,439 words of almost entirely original text, not including statistical data. A printed hard copy of the Clubs section alone would equate to well over 1,000 pages of A5 text, exclusive of illustrations. Although Full Points Footy is neither a commercial nor a profit-making site I have little hesitation in endorsing items which echo or complement its philosophy, particularly if, as with the two magnificent 'Team of the Century' paintings by Peter Vasic, and Max Sayer's superb chronicle of the history of the club championship of Australia, details of which appear below, they do so with intelligence and style: SUPERB LIMITED EDITION 'TEAM OF THE CENTURY' PRINTS By Adelaide Artist PETER VASIC Click here or on either of the images below for further details.

Why I Didn't Play Australian Rules Football Why I Didn t Play australian rules football. by John Kinsella. There s nota lot I really need to say about Aussie Rules being a bloodsport. http://www.johnkinsella.org/essays/footy.html
Extractions: by John Kinsella My father is a different man altogether. At the football, his father would instruct him to give a punch in the head to a "big-mouth" supporter of the opposing club. It was war. My father's struggle with his aggression and semi-meditative side (read: sarcastic, laconic, Australian) found focus in football. He was going to make it big as a ruck. He could kick a ball higher than he could longer, which was a problem, and he loved the attention. My mother thought he looked good. She went to his games. She loathed football. Says it all. In grade four I injured my knee, seriously. I had to go to a physiotherapist. I'd been playing football as part of sport and twisted my leg making an effort to kick towards goal as a bunch of "tough kids" crashed me to the ground. That was it, and I felt well shot of it. My father on an access visit assured me it would mend, but his chip grew heavier. Two down, and one to go. South Fremantle Supporter - Give the bloke a go, you've got to admit he's got strength. And plenty of grace as well.
