Phi Beta Kappa , the nation's oldest and most prestigious undergraduate honors organization, has reactivated its Nu of Pennsylvania Chapter at Wilson College. The decision, announced today at a press conference at the College's Chambersburg campus, makes Wilson one of only 255 colleges in the United States and one of only 18 women's colleges in the United States and Canada authorized to induct outstanding students into the Society. Wilson's chapter, which dates from 1950, was suspended in 1980 during a financial crisis that nearly resulted in the College's closing. The reactivation came after a lengthy evaluation by Phi Beta Kappa of Wilson's academic programs and its financial status.
