Mina Rees Library - ILLiad FAQ If the lending library levies a charge for the loan of an item, MinaRees Library must pass part of the charge to the requester. http://mina.gc.cuny.edu/illiad/FAQ.html
Extractions: Return to ILLiad logon page Return to new user registration What is ILLiad? The Graduate Center Library uses ILLiad to submit, track, and manage interlibrary loan (ILL) requests. ILLiad notifies you by e-mail when your requests arrive, and it link s you directly to documents delivered in electronic format. ILLiad also allows you to track and renew requests online from on or off-campus. Back to Top ILL is offered to Graduate Center students with a current GC library barcode and no outstanding library fines. Graduate Center faculty, visiting GC faculty, retired GC faculty, and staff with GC IDs and GC library barcodes are also welcome to use the service. Non-Graduate Center students, faculty with non-GC barcodes, and non-GC staff are not offered ILL services here. Try instead at your local college or public library. Wars Change Lives Of mina rees, it used to be said that if you had a contract from the Officeof Naval Research, then basically you had her to thank for it. http://www.siam.org/siamnews/03-02/wars.htm
Extractions: Kathleen Broome Williams, Naval Institute Press, Annapolis, Maryland, 2001, 280 pages (including copious notes and bibliography), $34.95. It is for a good reason that the word "antebellum" exists in the English language. To most people the word may suggest hoopskirts at Tara, but its real function is to point out that wars change lives. Though publicly cited and loaded with honors by the scientific, educational, and military establishments, both in their lifetimes and posthumously, none of these women are known to the larger community. A library at CUNY Graduate School is named after Rees. The U.S.S. Hopper, a guided missile destroyer, plies the waves. Sears also has a Navy vessel named for her. On the other hand, at least to my generation of mathematicians, Rees and Hopper are well known for their postbellum accomplishments. Of Mina Rees, it used to be said that if you had a contract from the Office of Naval Research, then basically you had her to thank for it. One remembers Grace Hopper for FLOWMATIC, the (arguably) first business language-oriented compiler, or for her great influence as a member of the committee that specified COBOL. All four women came to the war effort with PhDs. Mary Sears was trained in planktonology: Harvard, 1933. Florence van Straten in physical chem-istry: NYU, 1939. Grace Hopper in mathematics, under Oystein Ore: Yale, 1934. Mina Rees in mathematics, under L.E. Dickson: University of Chicago, 1931.
