    Extractions: This chakra - called in Taoism Hui Yin - is located between the genitals and the anus; the part of the body called the perineum. It constitutes the lowest of the Yin or descending energy chakras, and is the lower meeting point of the Governor (Yang) and the Function or Conception Vessel (Yin) channels. Through the legs and feet it is the main link with the universal Earth Ch'i or yin energy. It also connects with the central channel that runs along the centre of the body to the Crown Chakra . Through this nadi flows the Heaven chi energy (Universal Yang) from the crown chakra. The Perineum centre - often but incorrectly called the Muladhara or Base Chakra - thus constitutes the red or broadcasting pole in the universal energy stream that enters through the crown centre (the violet pole). The Hui Yin is located between the genitals and the anus; the part of the body called the perineum. When the Perineum is strong, the organs remain firm and healthy; when it is weak the organs lose cohesiveness and Chi energy drains away. Because this Centre is the gate through which Ch'i energy from the other organs can be either retained or lost, it is called the "Gate of Life and Death." This centre constitutes the lowest of the Yin or descending energy chakras, and is the lower meeting point of the Governor or Yang, and the Conception or Yin nadis or channels. It is connected to the element Earth and hence corresponds to the physical plane of existence, and is (through the feet) the main link with the Earth Chi energy.

    Extractions: THE YANG STYLE OF TAI CHI Yang Lu-chan was born in 1799 in Yung-nein in the prefecture of Kuang-p'ing in the province of Hopeh in China. There are several versions of his early life. One maintains that his family were farmers but his father soon noticed an interest in his son in martial arts. He arranged for lessons for him from a teacher named Liu. Yang Lu-chan soon mastered all his teacher could teach him and wanted to know more. Liu told him about Tai Chi Chuan, the secret of the Chen Family, but said that it was impossible for outsiders to learn the form. Undeterred Yang Lu-chan set out for Hui-hsing in Hunan province where he managed to get employment as a servant in the household of Chen Chai-kou. At this household there was a famous teacher of Tai Chi, Chen Chang-hsing who was teaching the form to the young men there. Yang spied on them and at night practiced what he had seen. After some time Chen Chiang-hsing happened to see him practicing one evening and realized the excellence of his technique. He decided to break with the tradition of secrecy and invited Yang into the school. Other accounts of Yang Lu-chan's early life claim that he came from very poor circumstances and was a bonded worker in a pharmacy before coming to Chen Chang-hsing's attention. In any case, after some period of study, so great was his mastery of the form that Chen dismissed him and Yang returned to Yung-nein to teach martial arts. Later, one of his students Wu Yu-xiang, recommended that he go to Beijing to propagate the art. Yang eventually established a school of Tai Chi there, although not without some difficulties. In time he taught Tai Chi to the Imperial court and became known as 'Yang the Unsurpassed'.

Norbert Gerstl, Artenschutzexperte des WWF Österreich: „Yang Yang und Long Hui in Schönbrunn werden mithelfen, Bewusstsein für den Artenschutz zu schaffen, aber auch Geld für Schutzprojekte in freier Wildbahn zu sammeln.“ Seit mehr als zwanzig Jahren engagiert sich der WWF in China für den Schutz der wildlebenden Pandas. Die größte Bedrohung stellt der Verlust des Lebensraumes dar. Der WWF arbeitet eng mit den chinesischen Behörden zusammen, um die Lebensräume der Pandas zu vergrößern und Korridore zwischen den Gebieten zu schaffen. Zur Zeit leben ca. 1.000 Pandas noch in freier Wildbahn. „Vor kurzem wurde eine neue Bestands-Zählung durchgeführt, auf deren Ergebnisse wir schon sehr gespannt warten“, kündigt Gerstl an. „Wir haben Anlass zur Hoffnung, dass die Schutzprojekte in den letzten Jahren gegriffen haben und die Anzahl der Pandas größer geworden ist.“ Pandas gehören zu den Großbären, werden etwa 1,60 bis 1,80 Meter groß und 85 bis 125 kg schwer. Sie sind Einzelgänger und ernähren sich zu 95% von Bambus.

One is tempted to interpret that Liu Hui meant in this passage to emphasize mathematical law underlying the changing phenomena. Yet, well, perhaps this is only a rhetoric of ancient Chinese scholars like Liu Hui to justify the status of mathematical study, an expertise which Confucians basically did not pay due respect. Similar rhetoric can also be seen in the Sunzi Suanjing (Mathematical Canon of Master Sun, 4th or 5th century AD), where the so called Chinese Remainder Theorem originated.
