From Fustat, the 1st Capital capital in Egypt (in the Islamic Period) (now part of Cairo), Egypt was administrated as a province of the Islamic Khalifate until 868, when it was announced a new independent rule in Egypt by Ahmed Ibn Tulun who established The Tulunid Dynasty (868-935),followed by the Ikhshid Dynasty (935-969) until the Fatimid dynasty (969-1171) were the only Shietes (an Islamic sect) who ever ruled Egypt. Their palaces were built inside a fortress called " al-Qahira ", which expanded to become modern Cairo . Their first Caliph built Al-Azhar mosque in 972, which continues to be the foremost center of theology in Islam and the oldest continuously practicing university in the world.

Al-Hajja`j is the worst person mankind has ever known throughout history. However, 'Abd al-Malik entrusted the affairs of the Moslems to him. He granted him wide-range powers. He made him behave according to his desires and inclinations, which followed noting except the thinking of violence and despotism. This sinful criminal (al-Hajja`j) went too far in punishing, forcing, and abasing the people. He made them submit to oppression and injustice. He created in the country, under his influence, an atmosphere of crises the people had never seen. We will mention what was said about him, some of his characteristics, and his deeds through which he blackened history. Extractions: In this groundbreaking book, Akbar Ahmed, one of the worlds leading authorities on Islam, who has worked in the Muslim world but lives in the West, explains what is going wrong in his society by referring to Islamic history and beliefs. Employing theological and anthropological perspectives, he attempts to answer the questions that people in the West are asking about Islam: "Why do they hate us?" "Is Islam compatible with democracy?" "Does Islam subjugate women?" "Does the Quran preach violence?" These important questions are of relevance to Muslims and to non-Muslims alike. Islam Under Siege points out the need for, and provides the route to, the dialogue of civilizations. September 11, 2001, underlined the role of Islam in our time. In its demographic spread, its political span, and its religious commitment, Islam will be an increasingly forceful presence on the world stage in the twenty-first century. While some scholars predict that there will be a clash of civilizations, others see a need for a dialogue of civilizations.

Number 56 on the list was Achmed Albert Friedrich Armand Huber, a former Swiss journalist with close ties both to Islamic fundamentalists and far-right extremists. A longtime convert to Islam, the 74 year old Huber was cited by the government for his presence on the five man managing committee of "Nada Management", a Lugano-based financial institution, which was known as "Al Taqwa (Fear of God) Management" prior to March 2002. The closing of Al Taqwa's doors, however, has done little to eliminate interest in Huber's own ties to Islamic extremism. Shortly after September 11, Huber himself drew attention to a possible Al Taqwa link to Ibn Laden when he stated that while attending an Islamic conference in Beirut, he had encountered some of Ibn Ladin's cadre, whom he described as "very discrete, well educated, highly intelligent people an entirely different quality than earlier". Huber also described 9/11 as an act of "counter-terror" against the World Trade Center, a "tower of godlessness," and the Pentagon, "a symbol of Satan". However, he denied having any financial dealings with Ibn Laden and stressed that Al Taqwa was strictly involved in financing development projects in Third World countries.
