Extractions: Welcome to the web site of the UK branch of the SETI League. - Last update This site is intended to complement the main SETI League Web Site which, although giving a wealth of useful information, can tend to be a little US-centric at times. We aim to provide information which is of specific interest to members of the SETI league in the UK, or to non-members who are interested in our Search for Extra Terrestrial Intelligence. SETI - The Search for Extra Terrestrial Intelligence is an attempt to obtain evidence of intelligent life outside our Solar System. There are many projects pursuing this goal, but we are focusing our efforts looking for narrow-band radio transmissions in the 1GHz to 10GHz region, and with the majority of stations looking at the frequency of neutral hydrogen - 1420MHz. The SETI League is a global organization, and this is essential for the search because not all of the sky can be viewed from any country. A signal seen in the UK at a particular point in the sky will be visible for confirmation on the East coast of the USA 5 hours later. It is a function of the SETI League to co-ordinate this activity. Extractions: :: News Flash Caves of mystery at Huashan The new finding on the 30 degrees Northern Latitude: the ancient Mystical Caves at Huashan, near the famous Huangshan Mountain in China's Anhui Province. Although tests on chiselled stones showed that the caves have existed for at least 1,500 years, it was only about 15 months ago that they were first discovered by a local farmer, by accident. The neatly chiselled walls and roofs, the big pillars and stone stairs, indicate that the caves were dug by men. Yet nobody knows for what purpose the ancient people excavated them. Mt. Huashan is located to the south of Huayin city, in Shaanxi province, with an elevation of 2200 meters above sea level. In ancient times, Mt. Huashan was called Mt. Taihuashan.

Mørk støv, millioner af stjerner og oplyst blinkende rødt gas markere vores egen galakse, Mælkevejens plan, som ligger gennemsnitligt tusindvis af lysår bag Jordens bjerge.

La mayoría de los alienígenas son curiosamente "humanoides". Muchos de nosotros soñamos con el encuentro, algún día, con una raza de alienígenas (amigables). Another look at "WOW" **New** We have recently recorded several files from our new 5 metre radio telescope that came into service during the month of October 2003. The first is an updated observation at 1420mhz, the second is the SUN at 1420mhz and the 3rd is a signal received at 1296mhz. The last one is interesting if you want to do a DSP on it as it has some interesting characteristics. You can even analyze them if you want. The files are here 1420.wav Sun1420.wav and 1296.wav . During the recent E.M.E. amateur radio contest on the 15th ~ 16th November 03 we were able to record some signals whilst pointing our dish at the moon. This is the file we recorded cq1296.wav and a spectrogram of the event is here. Some of these files are large at 3mb others at 1.4mb. Also, download Your Own Audio Analysis Program here.
