Extractions: Contact NOTICE: The Department of Geography seeks a scholar to serve as Director of the Center for Remote Sensing and Mapping Science (CRMS) . This is a faculty position at associate professor rank Details... The Center for Remote Sensing and Mapping Science (CRMS) at The University of Georgia undertakes interdisciplinary research projects requiring the development of image and map data processing technologies for applications in the physical, biological and mapping sciences. In 1998, the CRMS was named a NASA Center of Excellence Specialties of the Center's multidisciplinary staff that encompass the full range of geographic information science include remote sensing/digital image processing, digital photogrammetry, image interpretation, geographic information systems (GIS), Global Positioning System (GPS) surveys and software development focused on applications in ecology, forestry, geography, geology and hydrology. The CRMS has completed highly detailed vegetation maps of national parks in the southeastern United States , including Everglades , Biscayne and Great Smoky Mountains National Parks and Big Cypress National Preserve. Maps of additional parks, historic sites and battlefields (including Cowpens, Cumberland Gap

Extractions: Our research activities focus on the analysis of digital data obtained by satellite and airborne sensors, and on the development of applications of these data at local, regional, and global scales. The main objective is to provide a better understanding of the world oceans on a large spatial and temporal scale. In situ optical and biological data are collected for ground truthing and to relate the apparent and inherent optical properties of water constituents with the remote sensors' signal. We specialize in coastal processes of highly variable regions like the Gulf of Mexico, the Caribbean Sea and Cuba using instruments such as AVHRR, CZCS, SeaWiFS, MODIS, and Landsat. We use other sensors such as altimeters and scatterometers to examine the physical environment in the adjacent deep ocean. IMaRS Home

Welcome To The Virtual Terrain Project Promotes development of tools for constructing any part of the real world in interactive, 3D digital form. CAD, GIS, visual simulation, surveying and remote sensing. (free, with code) win32, unix http://vterrain.org/
Extractions: Black Rock City, NV Community: The goal of VTP is to foster the creation of tools for easily constructing any part of the real world in interactive, 3D digital form. This goal will require a synergetic convergence of the fields of CAD, GIS, visual simulation, surveying and remote sensing. VTP gathers information and tracks progress in areas such as procedural scene construction, feature extraction, and rendering algorithms. VTP writes and supports a set of software tools, including an interactive runtime environment ( VTP Enviro ). The tools and their source code are freely shared to help accelerate the adoption and development of the necessary technologies. To learn more about VTP and the field of virtual terrain, use the subject headings below. You can also request the VTP distribution as a CDROM or download. Extractions: Links The Earth and Planetary Remote Sensing group is involved with many diverse research interests. These interests range from planetary science to sea and lake ice to volcanoes to ecology and include much more! Our unique Earth location allows us to receive multiple images daily from polar orbiting satellites. We are fortunate to receive data in real time, such as AVHRR, MODIS and SeaWIFs, at our receiving stations. The group also has access to additional data and knowledge from other associated remote sensing groups at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, such as the Alaska Satellite Facility What's New: There is now a Remote Sensing logo available for your posters and outreach material!
