Lloyd Borrett: Native Wildlife I m interested in applying permaculture principles to the property. Last modified Saturday, 14 February 2004. RECOMMENDED READING permaculture. http://www.borrett.id.au/weirdmob/nativewildlife.htm
Extractions: DVDs It's great to have many native animals about the property. Daily I'll see members of the mob of kangaroos and wallabies that populate the area. Echidnas are often seen pottering about. Being a glider pilot, I get a special delight from watching the eagles and hawks soaring above. One day, while sitting in the kitchen with a group of friends at sunset, we spotted a koala in a nearby tree. Sightings since have been rare since, but great when they do happen. I have read reports that frogs are a fast fading species, but there are plenty about "Raydon". One frog even discovered access to a plentiful insect food supply by waiting for the cool of night and then climbing 20 feet up a shed wall to take up position underneath an outside light! I'm interested in applying permaculture principles to the property. But I'm even more interested in applying the wildlife conservation principles demonstrated by

Extractions: Click Here. Bookstores, contact us for wholesale prices! What is permaculture? By Lisa Rayner Permaculture is a new term for the old practice of ecological design. It means both "permanent agriculture" and "permanent culture." Permaculture involves working with nature, arranging human gardens and communities into fully functioning ecosystems. Permaculture embraces the ecological patterns of whole, living ecocommunities. The Permaculture Designers Manual, written by co- founder Bill Mollison, describes permaculture as: "The conscious design and maintenance of agriculturally productive ecosystems that have the diversity, stability, and resilience of natural ecosystems. It is the harmonious integration of landscape and people providing their food, energy, shelter, and other material and non-material needs in a sustainable way." Permaculture farms and gardens create "food forests" of fruit, nut and other useful trees with understory berry shrubs, herbs, vegetables, beans, grains and vining plants. Meaningful relationships are established between the different elements in a garden system to allow the different species and inorganic elements to meet each others needs naturally. As in wild ecosystems, different life forms and inorganic elements cooperate to take care of one another and recycle each other¹s wastes. The "waste" of one becomes "food" for others.
