This World Wide Web (WWW) site is an online documentary that chronicles the origin and evolution of the human species. Narrated by Donald Johanson, the paleoanthropologist who discovered Lucy, the video presentation highlights the evidence that scientists have discovered and analyzed in order to understand the evolutionary process. The presentation is divided into four main segments with interspersed, interactive features designed to reinforce key ideas. Viewers learn how scientists search for fossils, interpret the fossil record, and use this information to piece together a coherent picture of human ancestry. Prehistoric cave art is also studied along with the clues it offers about the development of culture.
