Extractions: The goal in designing this home study course is to instruct the imaging professional in proper venipuncture technique. In addition, contrast media, emergency procedures for adverse affects, CPR, infection control, isolation techniques, and medicolegal concerns are included. Venipuncture competency forms are also included. The A.S.R.T. has changed the Scope of Practice for Imaging Professionals to include Venipuncture. It is vital that imaging professionals elevate their skills to include this practice
MCPHS - Academic Programs - School Of Health Sciences - Radiological Sciences The fouryear Bachelor of Radiological science (BRS) Program offers majors in Nuclear Medicine Technology (NMT), Radiation Therapy (RT), and Radiography (RAD). Students majoring in Nuclear Medicine Technology can minor in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), or management. http://www.mcp.edu/ap/hs/hs_rs.shtml
Extractions: Three-Year Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Science Radiologic science is an academic discipline that forms the foundation for the medical specialties of diagnostic radiology, radiation therapy, and nuclear medicine. These medical specialties use ionizing and non-ionizing radiation in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Theoretical and technical advances within the field of radiologic science have allowed the development of new diagnostic modalities that enable physicians to examine virtually any part of the human body. Advances in this field have also increased the effectiveness of the radiation treatment of certain diseases, particularly cancers. The three-year Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Sciences program offers majors in Nuclear Medicine Technology (NMT), Radiation Therapy (RT), and Radiography (RAD). The curriculum of the Bachelor of Science program integrates didactic instruction in the liberal arts, basic and applied science, and the social sciences with clinical instruction provided by the clinical affiliates. The location of the College in the Longwood Medical and Academic Area, as well as its affiliations with the neighboring medical institutions, enable students to train in hospitals with state-of-the-art facilities that are among the best in the world.

A new sonar imaging concept Over the last 5 years the Underwater Research Lab at Simon Fraser University (SFU) has been researching and developing a new sonar imaging concept called Computed Angle-of-Arrival Transient Imaging or CAATI (pronounced Katie) for short. A U.S. patent application has been filed and the project has reached the point of having an operational prototype sonar (6 array elements) which we refer to as SARA Small Aperture Range versus Angle ) sonar. The underwater video, which was shot in a fresh water lake (Pavilion Lake in the interior of British Columbia), showed large fields of coral like growths. Intrigued by the images, we launched a small investigation to confirm their existence and bring back samples. It was clear to us that these growths were unique but we did not know at the time how unique. More info...

Images Of Dyslexia Dr. Guinevere Eden used a technique called functional magnetic resonance imaging to look at brain activities in men with dyslexia and in men with no known reading problems. http://science-education.nih.gov/nihHTML/ose/snapshots/multimedia/ritn/dyslexia/
Extractions: During the first four months of life, there is so much happening inside the human brain so many cells growing, dividing, and firing, so many structures maturing and taking appropriate shapes, so many important connections being made that, according to Dr. Guinevere Eden, "it is almost surprising that you don't actually hear all the commotion inside the infant's head!" All that brain development is what permits people eventually to read and dance, talk and throw a frisbee. But not everyone can perform all these activities correctly or with ease. Some people, for example, have difficulties reading. Many of them have a condition called developmental dyslexia . They can run into serious problems at school, at work, and in social situations, because reading is so central to everyday living. The most common myth about dyslexia is that the affected person mistakes "was" for "saw" and "tip" for "pit." But dyslexia is more complicated than that. "There is a huge language component to dyslexia," says Eden, but, she adds, that is about the only thing that people interested in dyslexia agree upon. Children with dyslexia describe how the letters and words on the printed page seem to jump around, superimpose themselves on one another, become indistinguishable (b looks like d, for example), or in other ways prove unmanageable. "It's like the words are walking," said one child with dyslexia.
