How real is that?! Let's say we skip the political issues and focus on tutorials and help systems used in Sim City 4. We can assume that most gamers using tutorials before playing are novice gamers. As for hardcore gamers, they usually count on transversal knowledge that allow them to re-use prior action habits during gameplay. We could also ask whether each game genre have similar interface design, due to identical interactivity constraints. For example, when you look at different RPGs, they have similar structural design components and awareness tools. In strategy games, too. A comparative study on interface and interactivity for each game genre would be very informative for helping game developers designing effective tutorials and help systems.
