Since unlike genes, memes do not come packaged with instructions for their replication, our brains do it for them, strategically, guided by a fitness landscape that reflects both internal drives and a worldview that is continually updated through meme assimilation. This paper presents a model for how an individual becomes a meme-evolving agent via the emergence of an autocatalytic network of sparse, distributed memories, and discusses implications for complex, creative thought processes and why they are unique to humans. Memetics can do more than account for the spread of catchy tunes; it can pave the way for the kind of overarching framework for the humanities that the first form of evolution has provided for the biological sciences. Keywords : autocatalysis, creativity, culture, evolution, imitation, induction, information, meme, memory, mental representation, natural selection, social learning.

Even the jokes he told were from The Innovators Solution. (If you havent read it you should. Ideaflow posts on this book can be found here: http://www.corante.com/ideaflow/archives/cat_clayton_christensen.php) One line of questioning was about companies disrupting themselves on the low end by figuring out a way to make money at the lower end of the price point by developing a more basic product that performs the jobs that underserved customers want done. Christensen said that, while unusual, it has happened before: Intel stole back the lower end of the market with the Celeron. One important point: The reason companies must set up a new, separate company to handle disruptions is that the new game begins before the old game ends. The trigger that signals when its the right time to start this new game: There is never a one-size-fits-all answer. If you wait until the data is clear, youll miss it, said Christensen. One clue: Do it as soon as there are customers. When you lose business at the low end, you have to be aware of it. If you are considering executing this strategy via acquisition: When you see somebody there, buy them as soon as you can and keep them separate. Once it becomes obvious to the financial market[that they are a threat to you,] its too late.

Death - In 1992, Thaler shocked the world with bizarre experiments in which the neurons within artificial neural networks were randomly destroyed. Guess what? The nets first relived all of their experiences (i.e., life review) and then, within advanced stages of destruction, generated novel experience. With this very compelling model of near-death experience (NDE) hopes for a supernatural or mystical explanation of this much celebrated phenomena were forever dashed. Consciousness and Creativity - After witnessing some really great ideas emerge from the near-death experience of artificial neural networks, Thaler decided to add additional nets to automatically observe and filter for any emerging

Extractions: Creative people more open to stimuli from environment by Jessica Whiteside Sept. 30, 2003 Psychologists from U of T and Harvard University have identified one of the biological bases of creativity The study in the September issue of the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology says the brains of creative people appear to be more open to incoming stimuli from the surrounding environment. Other people's brains might shut out this same information through a process called "latent inhibition" - defined as an animal's unconscious capacity to ignore stimuli that experience has shown are irrelevant to its needs. Through psychological testing, the researchers showed that creative individuals are much more likely to have low levels of latent inhibition. "This means that creative individuals remain in contact with the extra information constantly streaming in from the environment," says co-author and U of T psychology professor

Imagine a flow - a flow of thoughts, translated onto the paper papyrus or the electronic screen or another media like a loom or canvas - ideas, theories and designs, at times when your mind thinks faster than your hands could use your pen, needle, brush, typewriter or keyboard. A state of consciousness when your creative juices are in full flow and an exact opposite of what we term 'the creativity block'! The creativity block - it unfailingly happens to all of us, sometimes sooner than later. There are many reasons for it to happen, and they are as varied as we all are, leading their ways from circumstances, happenings and events - known and unknown. The most difficult stumble in removing the creativity block is to identify the reason in the first place. Back Diagnose And Resolve Since it can be so near-impossible to diagnose the problem, it's best to look at other ways to resolve the block. One of the most effective ways is distraction. Distraction always removes us from existing attractions - and it was one of these attractions, which caused the creativity block in the first place. In effect, you never realized the cause of the block, yet you would be successful in remedying the problem.
