Campbeltown - St Kiaran A potted history of this Cambeltown church. http://www.scotland.anglican.org/argyll/campbeltown.htm
Extractions: Except first Sunday in the month when Matins replaces 10.45am Family Communion History Regular Episcopalian worship resumed in Campbeltown in the Town Hall in 1840. In 1850 Bishop Ewing and the Trustees of the congregation bought the old United Secession Church in Argyll Street and the congregation worshipped there until 1891. In that year St Kiaran's was opened for its first service. Canon C T Wakeham, who had become the parish priest in 1884, built both church and rectory and put in much labour himself. Much of the splendid woodwork is his own work. The reredos was designed, shaped by steam and carved by him. Over the years many people have given various articles to the church. Notable among these is a magnificent chalice, "The Campbeltown Chalice", given by Alexander MacAlister of Torrisdale. A modern paten has been made to match the chalice. The lectern was a gift from Sir John Stainer, the famous organist of St Paul's Cathedral, London. The standard candlesticks are old Spanish brass gilt, brought from Spain at the time of the Peninsular War, and given to the church in 1899 or 1900. One of the sets of vestments was made in Brittany by monks and gifted to the church by Niall, 10th Duke of Argyll who was a fervent Episcopalian.
