Austin State University College of Fine Arts and Department of Music will present guest pianist Stanley Potter in a lecture-recital at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, in the Music Recital Hall, Room 160 of the Tom and Peggy Wright Music Building. Potter grew up in East Texas where his first piano teacher was Jessie Deane Trulove of Tyler. He continued his studies with Stefan Bardas at the University of North Texas and Silvio Scionti at Michigan State University where he received his master of music degree in piano. As a Fulbright Scholar, he studied with Yvonne Lefebure of the Paris Conservatory and became a scholar of the French pianistic technique and noted interpreter of the music of French composers. Subsequent teachers included Leonard Shure and William Dopmann at the University of Texas. His own students have concertized in Dallas, Los Angeles, Arkansas, Puerto Rico and Taiwan. Potter has been an active adjudicator in several states and recently retired from the faculty of West Texas State University where he taught for 34 years.
