Copland: Works For Two Pianos - Aaron Copland - Online Shop Tips the Brazilian pianist Marcelo Bratke with the Argentinean pianist Marcela Roggeri MéxicoComposed by Aaron Copland with william chapman nyaho , Susanna Garcia http://www.allscout-music.co.uk/classics/Copland_Works_for_Two_Pianos_Aaron_Copl
Extractions: Considering the Latin influence on Aaron Copland's music, this programme of duets performed by the Brazilian pianist Marcelo Bratke with the Argentinean pianist Marcela Roggeri is both eminently logical and frequently inspired. The orchestral suite derived from Copland's ballet, Billy the Kid , this set isn't just about memorable melodies and catchy rhythms, but about two fine musicians having a ball, proving that classical music can also be great fun. Beginning in June, our catalogues will appear later accordingly - web-site: around the 8th of the month instead of the 3rd; printed catalogues: to mail around the 12th of the month instead of the 9th of the month. This is being done to conform with the Naxos street date, which is always around the 20th of the month. We can't ship CDs to you which will arrive before the street date. (It is our experience that only about 15% of orders do not contain Naxos or Naxos-distributed titles). Since it has always been our policy not to charge you until the actual day we ship, this will entail some cash-flow problems on our part. Since this date change is going to impact only our web-site and phone-order customers (mail orders never usually started arriving until around the 12th-14th of the month anyway), we would appreciate your authorization to charge your credit cards upon receipt of your May orders in order to preserve cash-flow, and, thus, our ability to stay solvent, while waiting to ship. Achimota's Music School has produced some of the best Ghanaian musicians classical, traditional, and contemporary. Over the years, Achimota has contributed in no small measure to Ghana's rich musical heritage. The emphasis, at Achimota, on appreciation of both classical and traditional Ghanaian music helped to bring out the very best from the musicians who graduated from the Music School. Music Education All Achimota students were required to study both music theory and history during their first three years. Subsequently, students could continue studying music as an elective for GCE "O" and "A" levels. Students who were musically talented were encouraged to take extra lessons in piano, violin, flute, atentenben (a locally made bamboo flute), and other musical instruments. Music Programs Achimota had a full Orchestra that was directed by John Barham. The Orchestra helped music students to further develop their talents. The Orchestra performed at major School events and

Even though his father's side of the family is Ewe, originating from Nigeria (Yoruba), his mother's is Fanti. He spoke of going to the USVI to perform a concert, and on walking into the concert hall, he noticed that it was dedicated to slaves who had served and was buried there. As he went through the list, he noticed that there were so many Fanti names, that he was quite moved. He dedicated that concert to the memory of the slaves, possibly some of his ancestors, whose remains were there in the island.

Extractions: PROMOTING CULTURE 7 January 1970 President Helfferich had empowered a centennial planning committee to celebrate the intellectual and cultural vitality of the college by enriching the usual forum program. It assembled an unprecedented list of events at considerable expense. In the spring 1970 semester Sachar was followed by the following: MICHAEL KORN (11 February), organ recitalist, soon to start the Philadelphia Singers chorale; JAMES MICHENER (17 February), novelist, then living in nearby Pipersville, PA; JOSEPH MAYES (13 March), classical guitarist; JEAN SHEPHERD (15 April), radio performer and writer. 29 October 1970 The FORUM presented the Joan Kerr Dance Company from the Settlement Music School. Their contemporary dance numbers included "Scarlatti Dances," "Sol," and "Childermas." This was the second event in the semester-long schedule set up by dean of women RUTH R. HARRIS, 36, who doubled as director of student activities. The administration and faculty looked on the scheduling of speakers and performing artists as an important adjunct to the curriculum. They required students to attend at least two forums each semester for their first six semesters. Although students chafed under the requirement, and some faculty thought it was a poor way to motivate students to attend, it achieved the purpose of exposing many of them to a variety of speakers and artists representative of the times. Following the Joan Kerr Dance Company appearance, for example, the following forum guests appeared through that fall semester:
