Extractions: Director Lubomír Èermák Lubomír Èermák , the present artistic director of the body. He is at the same time the first violinist of the Brno Quartet , whose cooperation with the orchestra as its concert master, however, began as soon as by the end of the eighties. The repertoire of the orchestra is extremely rich, covering baroque, classic, romantic and contemporary music. The works of Bohuslav Martinù became a constant element of their repertoire. Some of his important compositions were first performed in this country by this ensemble such as Partita (Suite I) for string orchestra (1931), Sonata da camera for cello and chamber orchestra (1940) - with the soloist Alexander Veètomov, Sextet for strings (in an authorized version with double-bass). Compositions of B. Martinù were performed by the Martinù Chamber Orchestra at all its trips abroad. In 1964 the ensemble also participated in the performance of the opera Comedy on the Bridge in Italy (a total of 9 performances, 2 in Rome). It is perhaps interesting to note that two musicians who were playing in 1956 at the famous first performance of Martinù's chamber cantate Opening of the Wells were members of the orchestra until recently. Although the Martinù Chamber Orchestra plays mostly without conductor, on some greater projects they did work with them - among the Czech conductors were for example Libor Hlaváèek, Frantiek Jílek, Stanislav Macura, Lubomír Mátl, Václav Nosek, Jiøí Pinkas, Leo Svárovský, Jan tych, Frantiek Vajnar, Jaroslav Vodòanský, Petr Vronský and Jan Zbavitel, further Hans von Benda, Emmanuel Jaeger, Jan Latham-Koenig, Ernst Krenek, Charles Olivieri-Munroe, Peter Richter de Rangenier and others from abroad.
