Extractions: Dinu Lipatti (1917-1950) "Almost 40 years after his death from leukaemia at the tragically early age of 33, the aura of saintliness which surrounded Lipatti in life clings, undiminished, to his memory. Born in Romania, to parents noth wealthy and musical, Lipatti began playing the piano while still in infancy and made his public debut, as both pianist and composer atthe age of four. After taking second prize at the Vienna Piano Competition in 1934 (a misscarrige of artstic justice which cause Alfred Cortot to dissocaiete himself from the jury), Lipatti moved to Paris, where his mentors included Cortot, Charles Munch(conducting), Paul Dukas (composition) and Nadia Boulanger. With concerts in Germany, Italy and Paris (wherr Poulenc discerned in him a "divine spirituality") Lipatti's fame as a performer spread rapidly. There was a great deal more to Lipatti's art than "divine spirituality". There was also charm, pathos and intellectual power, a breathtaking rhythmic energy combined with an almost inhuman control (his "Alborada" is not only unsurpassed but unequaled) and a profound awareness of pianistic colors" Jeremy Siepmann

Extractions: Dinu Lipatti (eigentl.

While they should probably be in some sort of order be it chronological or alphabetical, they aren't. Sorry. :-) I'm workin' on it. As well as music, there are a few works included that discuss technique for various instruments such as violin, recorder, and guitar. Several of these discuss the techniques for fretting and fingering, however, and seem not to address strumming or bowing with the left hand. You'll have to read them yourself to determine the situation. Read this to learn what I think about CyberNOT not banning my page. MUSIC SCORE

This album is only one Bach recording at Decca, but this international issue by Decca has a missediting problem in Sarabande of the French Suite No.5. As the note below, Backhaus (and some other players) plays the end of the Sarabande with a variation. But about 1 second is missed! Next score ; 37~38th bars

The term refers particularly to someone who writes music in some type of musical notation, thus allowing others to perform the music. This distinguishes the composer from a musician who improvises. However, a person may be called a composer without creating music in documentary form, since not all musical genres rely on written notation. In this context, the composer is the originator of the music, and usually its first performer. Later performers then repeat the musical composition they have heard.

The recordings, made in Switzerland and London between 1947 and 1950, capture a piano playing that was, for Cortot, 'perfection'. Bryce Morrison, writing in the booklet, expresses how difficult it is to define and reassess such genius, and ends his appraisal by quoting the words coined by Lipatti's producer, Walter Legge: 'God lent the world His chosen instrument, whom we called Dinu Lipatti, for too brief a space'.

Extractions: I never thought that a set of Chopins Waltzes could ever compete with the Rubinstein for me, but this one by Dinu Lipatti is exceptional. This was a man who truly loved this music and had the talent to show it. The sound is acceptable given the age of the recording, and the Barcarolle, Nocturne, and Mazurka are also very fine. I dont know why the Waltzes are presented out of order, but you can always program the CD player to play them in numbered sequence. This is music that you dont have to be in the mood forhear it and you are in ITS mood.
