The program is called, "Asian Focus." And they interviewed me about this, here, website (AAMP!itude) for their show. I'm afraid I didn't look that good on camera, from what little playback I saw. (So you potential viewers out there, consider yourselves to have been warned!) Although, I imagine it will be repeated over the course of the ensuing months (probably at unusual hours), so viewers might be able to get used to my odd screen presence. (That is, if Judy and Andrew decide to use the material.) And afterwards, we all watched part of the Stanley Cup hockey game between the Detroit Red Wings and Carolina Hurricanes (being played at ESA in Raleigh). 15 June - There was a free concert tonight by singer/songwriter Tom Prasada-Rao at a local outdoor amphitheater (in Catonsville, MD), so I decided to take advantage of it. I've known about him for several years, but this was my first time seeing him onstage.

Music Reviews: John Michael Montgomery, The Duke Robillard Band, Jenny Lin, Rach Music reviews John Michael Montgomery, The Duke Robillard Band, jenny lin, Rachel Z Trio. October 8, 2000. COUNTRY. John Michael Montgomery "Brand New Me" (Atlantic) Brandnew stuff? Not really . http://www.freep.com/entertainment/music/revus8_20001008.htm
Extractions: MUSIC October 8, 2000 COUNTRY John Michael Montgomery "Brand New Me" (Atlantic) Brand-new stuff? Not really. Montgomery sticks mostly to the mix of contemporary country and twangy pop that made him a star in the early '90s. There's a life-affirming anthem ("Brand New Me"), a barroom rocker ("That's What I Like About You") and, of course, a big love ballad ("Even Then.") The only thing that's different and we don't mean different in a good way is "The Little Girl," already at No. 5 on the country singles chart. This weeper about a child who endures the murder-suicide of her drug- and alcohol-abusing parents is a little too reminiscent of those maudlin story songs that tarnished country music's image back in the '60s. Otherwise, this is mostly serviceable, mostly radio-ready fare. It's not bad, but there's nothing here to rival "Life's a Dance" or "I Swear." By Greg Crawford, Free Press staff writer BLUES The Duke Robillard Band "Explorer" (Shanachie) In founding Roomful of Blues a band that never received proper credit for jump-starting the jump-blues craze then replacing Jimmie Vaughan in the Fabulous Thunderbirds, Duke Robillard proved nothing if not adaptable.

"I like listening to myself play and also comparing myself to others and trying to perfect what I'm doing to better myself. That's something that is actually, like, driving you." Family Crucial to Success "I wonder all the time where it comes from, but I don't know if it's discoverable," said Joseph Polisi, president of the Juilliard School, which teaches some of the great young artists. When asked why so many of these young artists are Asian, Polisi said: "I think that mix currently of family, tradition and respect for a type of genre of music certainly does exist in China, Japan and Taiwan, Korea of course. That's a tradition we see less in America today."

"There are several paths," she said, "and I've kind of chosen the piano path already, but there are still other paths I can take." Many young stars flame out before they grow up. The pressure of practice and performance is sometimes too much. Others have everything it takes, including inner strength. "Music is something that I believe is given to us from God, and it's something that we should really appreciate it," Jennifer said. "And I enjoy music because I'm able to actually create it. And I can make my parents happy, I can make myself happy and I can touch other people, I hope."
