Thanks a million, George, for participating...can't wait to hear the new " Ring of Fire " project with George on guitar, vocalist Mark Boals, keyboardist Vitalij Kuprij, drummer Virgil Donati, and bassist Barry Dunaway! Be sure to check out George's fabulous instructional series available at www.GeorgeBellas.com the following bio material from GeorgeBellas.com Chicago native George Bellas started playing guitar at age 7 on a Classical guitar his father had bought him. His influences include: Franz Liszt, J.S.Bach, L.V.Beethoven, Paganini, Debussey, Yngwie Malmsteen, Walter Piston, Ted Greene, Michael Schenker, Dream Theater, Magellan, Jason Becker, Robin Trower, Montrose, Van Halen, Tony MacAlpine...By the age of 12, George was playing live in local bands while studying Music Theory, Harmony, Rhythm, Counterpoint and Form. Soon after, George began teaching guitar and opened Prodigys School Of Music, during which time he continued to perform and compose. George had an affection for classical counterpoint and Odd Rhythms very early on. George's compositions include progressive odd-meter/exotic scale pieces as well as simple straight forward rockin' vocal tunes and Classical Orchestral/Soundtrack Music. George exhibits great technical prowess and a beautiful sense of melody and finesse. George eventually got his first 4-track recorder and began recording day in and day out. George's catalog of music began to grow very rapidly.

Extractions: Thanks :) AssClown Vitalij Kuprij. He's an electric keyboard player, and he plays some badass NeoClassical and Fusion shit, but he's also an incredible Classical piano player. The New York Philharmonic (I know I chopped that up) Orchestra chose him to play piano for them. He has three solo keyboard CDs out, that feature him dueling with guitar players like Greg Howe, Tony MacAlpine and George Bellas. If you want a song to download by him try "Divided World" that's got him playing with Greg Howe. He's also got a band called Artension. He has a new solo CD coming out and it's got quite a few guitarists on it, Mike Romeo, Francesco Fareri and others. He's one of my biggest musical influences (even for guitar. I suck at piano). METAL - REFERENCE | SHRAPNEL RECORDS In 1995, Mike Varney sowed the seeds of Artension, when he paired the Russianbornorganist/pianist vitalij kuprij with an American band consisting of singer http://www.metal-reference.com/shrapnel-records.php
Extractions: Varney realising the potential in the genre known as neo-classical as displayed by the many of the artists on his samplers, thus deciding to finance the eponymous debut of Wild Dogs, which obtained cult-success on the domestic scene. Next release was the full-length debut, Heavy Metal Maniac, from Canadian band Exciter, but this album neither displayed neo-classical metal nor any guitar-heroes, whereas the music could be described as an extreme version of heavy-metal soon to be dubbed speed-metal. Exciter were an imminent success and was quickly bought by the Dutch record-company Roadrunner Records that was specialising in this genre. Hawaii was the third band in the row whose debut, One Nation Underground, was released by Shrapnel, and despite the lacklustre

The band soon recorded the Mike Varney-produced Into the Eye of the Storm , which featured a guest appearance from the lead-guitarist James Murphy. The music consisted of symphonic and progressive metal with neo-classical elements and the album achieved minor attention. In 1997, Artension recorded the Varney-produced Phoenix Rising , which featured a guest appearance from lead-guitarist James Murphy. In 1998, Chown and Terrana were replaced by bassist John Onder and drummer Shane Gaalaas. In 1999, Artension released the Varney-produced Forces of Nature , which featured guest appearances from lead-guitarist James Murphy and backing vocalist Lonnie Park. The album lacked the weight of the previous release. In 2000, the band recorded

Mark Boals Album Reviews - MarkBoals.com showed orthodox tenor.), this year s Grammy nominated guitarist Tony MacAlpine, vitalij kuprij who is also worldwell known classical pianist, Philip Bynoe s http://www.markboals.net/albumreviews.html
Extractions: Third solo album from the former Malmsteeen/Billionaires Boys Club frontman, "Edge Of The World" follows pretty hard on the heels of Boals' "Ring Of Fire" and "The Oracle" releases. However, and here's an important distinction, although there are some similarities with Ring Of Fire (the band and the album), this is musically quite different, the net of creativity being cast in what can only be described as a much more progressive direction. Back by a band which includes the likes of keyboard maestro Erik Norlander (Lana Lane, Artjen Lucassen), drummers Vinny Appice and Virgil Donati (Ring Of Fire), and a whole host of fretboard firebrands (Tony MacAlpine, Jeff Kollman etc.), Boals has reached deep within himself to create his most diverse sounding album yet. Before we get started I should make my position clear: being a Boals fan of old I can say without reservation that "Edge Of The World" is easily his best work to date, the twelve songs each crackling with a passion and energy that has never shown itself in such abundance in the past. kicking off with the bleak sound of an icy wind blowing over a desolate landscape, opener "Fly" gradually builds into a brooding mid paced monster which smacks of slightly more commercial "Twilight In Olympus" era Symphony X crossed with Malmsteen and Artension - indeed that whole Symphony X /Artension vibe is something which crops up with regularity through "Edge Of The World" as Boals and his band strive to achieve technical perfection within a more traditional hard rock framework.

Extractions: At first hearing the average listener may be unaware of the many links between rock music and classical music. One might remember a few examples of "rockin' the classics" and pass them off as interesting anomalies. However the pervasive influence of classical music on rock music has grown from a long line of precedents. Many of the examples noted below are detailed in my 1985 discography Rockin' the Classics and Classicizin' the Rock , its first supplement (1991) and its second supplement (2000). Each popular style of music in its day has produced versions of the classics. Many composers throughout music history have delighted in adding a "new" sound to familiar melodies. The range and quality varies widely in these attempts to blend the music of the past with the sound of the present and the future. Nonetheless the classical "hook" draws in the listener with either distinct or vague familiarity. Thus even the early days of ragtime and vaudeville produced their own variations on the classics, though we have few recordings. From the 1920s through the 1940s, James Price Johnson, Jelly Roll Morton, and Fats Waller "jazzed up" the classics, alongside the Big Band versions of Paul Whiteman, Duke Ellington, Harry James, Tommy Dorsey, Glenn Miller, Les Brown, Gene Krupa, Woody Herman, John Kirby, Freddie Martin, and Stan Kenton. From the most criticized musician that Dream Theater ever had, Sherinian became one of the most recognized and successful musicians of the present time. Even his enemies from the Dream Theater times, today approve and follow his releases. DEREK SHERINIAN - That was a freak incident that happened very shortly after September 11. I am sorry for the comments that I made, I was just deeply hurt when the crowd started yelling. "Osama, Osama , Osama". That is like yelling "Hitler" to a jew. But I did a huge press conference there where I apologized to all of Brazil- even though I only intended to insult the porto allegreans! (laughs) But in reality, it was only a few assholes in the crowd. I am sorry the incident happened, and I am anxious to move ahead. I have learned that music and politics do not mix. I have a strong relationship with my Brazilian fans, and I am looking forward to playing in Brazil again.
