For those of us who did not lose someone, what has become seemingly insurmountable are the waves of questions pounding our minds. Questions about how in the same day, the good and bad of human nature were shown in such extreme ways; about finding truth among such vastly opposing perceptions of it; doubts about humankindÕs repeated mistakes, and about the meaning of life. Extractions: (Published Jan. 23, 2000) Music for young people is sounding again everywhere from Auburn and Placerville to Elk Grove and Sacramento in full-blown concerts and mini-programs that augment school music curricula. With few exceptions, the hiatus of such music events was mostly due to the 1996 demise of the Sacramento Symphony, which once had a season of young people's concerts. Young people playing for other young people will be the draw of "A KinderKonzert of Cool Classics: A Family Affair," presented by the Sacramento Youth Orchestra Academic Orchestra at 2 p.m. today in the McClatchy High School Theater. "It always sparks kids' interests when somebody their own age is doing something they haven't had a chance to do," said John Abigana, the Academic Orchestra's conductor. "I am a firm believer that everyone should be able to be involved in and learn music in some way, at any age." Abigana, a tuba player and music teacher at Woodland High School, knows what it means to hear music early in life. He became involved in music himself at an early age and won over his father to classical music in the process.
