Extractions: Sasha Alexeev was born in Leningrad (now St.Petersburg), Russia to a musically talented family. At the age of five, he was accepted to the Vermishev School of music where he studied with some of the premiere music maestros in the Soviet Union. By the age of nine, Sasha had created his first compositions and was widely recognized as a prodigy in Leningrad. Unfortunately, despite his promising musical career, Sashas parents were labeled dissidents for their political activism and were sentenced to ten years in a concentration camp. After many years of hardship, Sasha was finally able to come to America and study piano at the prestigious California Institute of the Arts, working with such teachers as Leonid Hambro and Howard Richman. During that time, he created several original compositions that won local and national acclaim. In addition, Sasha became skilled at the drums, viola, and he took extensive voice training. He graduated with distinction. Around that time he also won the Seraton International Piano Competition as well as the American Music Festival competition. Shortly after graduation, Sasha signed with an independent record label- Giana Records. During the next several years, Sasha released three successful solo piano albums. Although engaged with many concerts in support of these albums, Sasha still managed to complete his Symphony no.1 in A minor, Symphony no.2 in D minor a Piano Concerto, over 25 solo piano compositions, dance and rock tunes, songs, as well as many other works.

Playing piano since the age of 5 and composing since 9, Sasha has had 7 albums on the market and has been signed with 4 different labels, most notably with BMG/Rock Records. Over the years he has written over 100 piano compositions, two dozen songs, various band pieces, as well as 2 symphonies and a Piano Concerto. He has also been involved with film scoring and arranging. Always busy with new projects, Sasha has branched off into acting and has had supporting roles in several films. Its culture was always very rich in genius and simply very talented people including composers and musicians. But because of its permanent political troubles and economical problems, Russia has never cared about them seriously. Professional music in Russia has existed already for more than 200 years. At the dawn of its history there was an extremely talented composer, Maxim Sozontovich Berezovsky (1745-1777). After graduating from the Glukhovâs Music School and the Kievâs Ecclesiastical Academy he served in the staff of the court musicians. When he was 24 he was sent to Italy to develop his professional skills. After two years of studying in Bologna Academy with the famous Padre Martini (who was also the teacher of J.C.Bach and W.A.Mozart), he was accepted as a Member of the Academy. He wrote an opera âDedemontâ as a commission for Leghorn that had great success. At the age of 28 he returned to Russia, where he found a lack of interest for his creative work. In vain he tried to find a suitable job before at last he was suggested the post of an ordinary servant in a Chapel. After three years of humiliation and troubles he fell ill with fever and committed suicide at the age of 31.
