Canada remains committed to the principles of international solidarity and continues to play an active role in burden sharing efforts. We welcome the reforms initiated by the High Commissioner since taking office to address issues of management and oversight accountability, and encourage further efforts to this end. We support the renewal of the UNHCR's mandate and look forward to discussions on the ways in which the UNHCR's work can be enhanced. We also look forward to the report to be presented to the General Assembly next year by the High Commissioner. We are confident that the UNHCR will see to it - that the review process is transparent and accessible. The success of any reforms, particularly as potentially wide-ranging as those being considered, will depend on engaging from the beginning states and other partners, including NGOs, the rest of the United Nations system and international financial institutions.
