Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary / Candy Kitchen Rescue Ranch Ramah. Nonprofit organization providing safe sanctuary to abused and abandoned captive-bred wolves and wolfdogs. Focuses on education, ecology and the environment, responsible ownership of wolfdogs and the humane care of all animals. Includes visitor information. http://www.inetdesign.com/candykitchen/
Extractions: W ild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary , formerly known as Candy Kitchen Rescue Ranch is a nonprofit organization providing safe sanctuary to abused and abandoned captive-bred wolves and wolf-dog crosses. With focus on education, ecology and the environment, responsible ownership of wolf dogs and the humane care of all animals, companion or otherwise. We are located in the Zuni Mountains near the small town of Ramah, New Mexico. Candy Kitchen Rescue Ranch (as we were then known as) was founded in 1991 by fine artist Jacque Evans. The unlikely name came from the fact that the sanctuary is located at an old ranch headquarters of the same name. We changed our name in 2004 as "candy kitchen" proved just too confusing, choosing instead a name more reflective of our mission. Jacque had originally supported Candy Kitchen's efforts with the sale of her art work until 1993, when Barbara Berge moved to the area and served as General Manager until 2003. Leyton Cougar joined the team in 1996, and now serves as Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary's Director.
