Markey Bill Would Prohibit
Operation of Thrill Rides by Children
On April 23, 2004, Rep. Edward J. Markey (D-MA) announced the introduction of legislation to set a minimum age of 18 years for operators of amusement park rides in the United States. At least nine states, as well as the Walt Disney Corporation, already have adopted such a requirement. The Markey bill, titled the Amusement Park Ride Child Labor Act (HR 4190), would extend those protections to apply to all amusement park rides nationwide, not just to a few states or a few parks. “For the sake of both the young employees and the park patrons, who are disproportionately children themselves, the Department of Labor should recognize that operating roller coasters and thrill rides requires split-second judgments that, if mishandled, can injure both the operator

    http://www.advancedcell.com/
Advanced Cell Technology, Inc. is the leading biotechnology company in the emerging field of regenerative medicine. Our focus is on the production of young cells for the treatment of cell degenerative disease. Our technology platform offers four distinct advantages over our competition: - Our technology utilizes nuclear transfer (cloning) technology to produce healthy cells or tissue of any type with an identical genetic match to the patient's own DNA. This eliminates the risk of the cells being rejected by the patient's immune system. - Our technology regenerates the cell lifespan, thereby making "young" cells available for aging patients. - Our technology allows for precise genetic modification at the cellular level to cure genetic disorders as part of the treatment process. - Our Reduced Complexity Library (RCL) technology offers an off-the-shelf product for acute indications where nuclear transfer is not appropriate. The combination of these unprecedented advances - the ability to produce young cells of any kind, genetically modified in any way, genetically compatible with the patient - is the hallmark and strength of Advanced Cell Technology's platform.

Introduction by Maria Eagle - Minister
As Minister for Disabled People, I know that it is often complex and time-consuming for individual disabled people and their families to find out what they most need to know. This new site represents a step forward in helping people to find out about their civil rights and to see more clearly how useful the Internet can be as a source for information. Please continue to let my Department have your views about this site. They do make a difference. We want the site to be as up-to-date and as fully accessible as possible for disabled people to use.
    Disability Rights
We want to help you find out about your rights as a disabled person, and to learn more about the legislation that exists to help establish fully comprehensive and enforceable civil rights for disabled people in the UK. This site is managed by the Disability Unit in the Department for Work and Pensions. You may have come here wanting to know about your present benefits claim, or to establish your likely entitlement to disability benefits. Please visit the main Department for Work and Pensions site for information on benefits.
