Robotics Research Group
Welcome to the Robotics Research Group
in the Department of Engineering Science, University of Oxford.
Established by Professor Michael Brady in 1985 the Robotics Research Group brought together a group of like-minded engineers working in robotics research and artificial intelligence. Since then it has grown to 10 research groups whose interests range from medical imaging to producing scheduling tools for manufacturing. The Robotics Research Group is based primarily on two sites: the temporary accommodation in Ewert House, Summertown and the Jenkin Building within the Engineering Science triangle. The new Information Engineering Building currently under construction is scheduled for occupation by the whole group in 2005. The Robotics Research Group consists of 8 research groups:

Download Why Multibody Dynamics Simulation? At Concurrent Dynamics... we develop Multibody Dynamics Simulation MDS MDS is a an important tool for product design, testing and development in the aerospace, automotive and robotics industries today. Dynawiz, our MDS program developed with Lagrangian formulation, accommodates forward and inverse dynamics, contact constraints, and prescribed motion. It also models system with flexible member bodies. It comes in versions that solve the multibody dynamics equations by O(n^3) methods and by recursive O(n) methods, where n=degree of freedom of the plant. [The O(n) versions accommodate rigid body dynamics only at this time. Another O(n) version is being developed to simulate systems with both rigid/flex member bodies.] It runs on PC and on Workstations. It works in Matlab(5.3 and up )/Simulink(c). It also works in the PC/DOS environment. MultiVehicle Capability... for the Simulink implementation, lets you simulate multiple vehicles concurrently. Each vehicle is represented by its own Dynawiz S-function. These vehicles could be satellites, aircraft, or ground vehicles or robots. They can operate independently, or interact with each other. This capability has many aerospace applications, such as Space Station and Shuttle proximity ops, satellite-to-satellite crosslink antenna control dynamics, and spacecraft docking maneuvers. In robotics, you can analyze the performance of a few robots that are executing a coordinated task. For inverse dynamics application, you can run two identical mechanisms in a master-slave arrangement. The master Dynawiz runs in the inverse dynamics mode generating the desired hinge torque or forces to drive the slave Dynawiz. The latter would then move according to the input trajectory fed to the master Dynawiz. Etc...

Ok, so some judge said spam was ok.
Nearly the world does not like it,
but who cares. Obviously not the judge.
Now theres a new problem in town.
A small group , if not one individual
will send spam and viruses across the
lands using YOUR email address. Not necessarily sending from you computer. They can send spam and viruses using there computer and YOUR email address. Now YOU get the blame, YOU get the angry email(after all it is YOUR address). And YOU get reported for doing bad things. Guess what...theres nothing you can do about it. This has a striking resemblance to "Stolen Identity" which I believe is a federal offence. I am a victim. You have most likely received spam and viruses from me; bobert@midmaine.com customerservice@nelnick.com No I didn't send them to you, and you didnt send them to me either, right?

Department of Mechanical Engineering 315 Scaife Hall 5000 Forbes Avenue Pittsburgh, PA 15213 Professor Sitti's research is focused on the development of micro- and nanoscale robotic and manufacturing systems for novel manufacturing, analysis, and control tools at the micro- and nanoscales by integrating robotics, nanotechnology, MEMS, and biotechnology fields. The other main motivation is to contribute to the understanding and controlling of adhesion and friction at the nanoscale. In my Nanorobotics Lab , we use a system level approach where a micro- and nanoscale system is designed, manufactured and controlled for a specific application in an overall perspective. The first key component of our approach is micro/nano-mechatronic design that involves novel micro- and nanoscale actuators, sensors, mechanisms, and controls specific to the application. Secondly, we utilize micro/nano-physical modeling for improved understanding of the system with preliminary simulations and experimental tests. Automatic or teleoperated control and human-machine interfacing of the nano world to the macro world are also implemented for reliable and repeatable tasks. Finally, we are interested to utilize biomimetic principles in nature so that we could adapt smart, multifunctional, sub-optimal, and adaptive mechanisms, actuators, materials, and structures in nature to the engineering problems at the nanoscale.
