Soccer is one of the most popular sports in the world and Middle Tennessee's men's club soccer team is representative of that fact.
"We have as many of international players as we ever had before," Dobay said.
The different cultures have translated into bonds of friendship within the team.
"It carries over off the field when they do things together," Dobay said.
Most people might think that communication between the players and coach is hard at times. However, that is not the most difficult part of coaching international players. The hardest part is creating a coherent style of play from so many different cultures.
"Most of the players started at a younger age, so it's a bigger challenge to teach them a different style," Dobay said. "It has worked out well.
The soccer team is a member of the National Intramural Recreational Sports Association.

THE PROJECT
This paper summarises the findings of the Sporting Clubs' Alcohol Project conducted in Victoria by the Centre for Youth Drug Studies, on behalf of the Australian Drug Foundation, in 1997. The aims of the project were:
  • To research those practices and attitudes within sporting clubs that may contribute to the unsafe use of alcohol in the community; To identify key areas to be addressed within sporting clubs if the harmful effects of alcohol used by members, in particular young people, were to be reduced; To develop and trial strategies that all sporting clubs can use to reduce harmful outcomes; and To produce a practical guide for sporting clubs to enable them to implement those strategies deemed as successful.

  • Answer by Driftwood (support@ThisisToPreventSpam-BPW-RemoveThis.football4sale.com) contributed on March 10, 2004, at 04:42am. Last updated on March 10, 2004, at 7:56pm. Some quick answers; In places like Africa football is a way out of poverty. Perticualary countires like France are setting football schools in Africa to get talented players at an early age. If this is a good thing or a bad thing I don't know. One thing I do know is football brings people together and can, in a time when the world cup if in town, lift a nation as did the 1966 world cup in England.

And for many, it is an experience they will never forget. For four foreign exchange students attending Dodge City High School, the experience has been all and even more than what they ever expected. Gil Soo Kim of South Korea, Stefan Roder of Germany, Watsachol Narongsaksakul of Thailand and Tobias Kornrumpf, also of Germany, have spent the past 10 months with host families in Dodge City. "School is cool, because I can choose the subjects I want to take, but in Korea we have to go to school from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a lunch and dinner break, and we have to take 12 subjects," Kim said. Roder said, "I have enjoyed the school sports and watching football."

E-mail this story Posted on: Sunday, April 25, 2004 Between two cultures in Hawai'i By Vicki Viotti Advertiser Staff Writer Meet author Mary Danico Book signing, "The 1.5 Generation: Becoming Korean American in Hawai'i" (2004, $21, University of Hawai'i Press), 2 p.m. today, Waldenbooks, Kahala Mall Information: 956-7041 Mary Yu Danico, who emigrated from South Korea as a child, never thought of herself as having a number attached to her name until she met one of her professors at the University of Hawai'i. "He said, 'Oh, you're a 1.5-er,'" she recalled. "I was so insulted." Not that it's truly an insult; it's just that Danico, an associate professor at California State Polytechnic University-Pomona, always thought of herself simply as a Korean-born immigrant and wasn't prepared for the terminology that sociologists bat around. In this case, the expression refers to Korean Americans who emigrated as children and thus grow up culturally between their first-generation parents and the born-in-America second generation.

Power-Politics - Vs. Ecclesiastical Cultures
by David Rockett
Headings
Francis Schaeffer borrowed from Richard Weaver's Ideas Have Consequences when he began his book, A Christian Manifesto with the following: The basic problem of Christians in this country in the last eighty years or so, in regard to society and in regard to government, is that they have seen things in bits and pieces instead of totals.
Socio-Politics
For those who spent the past ten years in a coma: national and international ruling elites are involved in a conspiracy of sorts for world government. They call their vision a New-World-Order . Modern fascism internationalized is the style of world government which seeks to rule by cooperation and union between central governments and the super-wealth in big business. Far from an abstraction, powerful men with very real agendas carry an internationalist dream. They are self-conscious, anti-Christian secularists. Yet they possess a highly polished skill in presenting themselves as seasoned, reasonable professional men of mature vision and progress. This is how they get elected President and appointed as college presidents, professors, corporate CEOs (chief executive officers), and even named leading seminary and denominational bureaucrats. These men are essentially secure within their domain of power-politics. The ruling elite has structured political procedures so as to insulate themselves from serious threat. Just ask Michael Ferris, defeated Virginia candidate for Attorney General how easy it is for Christian activists to supplant GOP party elites in only one state where the Christian Right is strongest. Or, ask Howard Phillips how easy it is to battle entrenched national power-politics. Indeed, it is past time that we seriously questioned the wisdom of focusing cultural energies toward political battles, especially at the national level. It is an acquiescence to our opponents faith - the
